Each biome inLuma Islandhas a large population of fish that you need to catch and use in recipesto become a Master Fisherman, and they can be difficult to come by if you aren’t sure where to look for them. Some fish are even invisible — with recipes requiring three or four of these types without them ever appearing in ponds.
So, if you’re looking to complete the Fisherman profession branch orget the achievement that requires you to catch all fish types once, it’ll be much easier if you know how to traverse these areas and look for possible places the fish you need may be. Here is where each fish type is located inLuma Island.
The Farm Fish Locations
The Farm has four main types of fish that you’ll need, namely Penny Herring, Silver Snapper, Gilded Bass, and Jellyfish. you’re able to also find Shrimp, Mussels, and Seaweed in the sand, but they don’t need afishing rod to catch them— although they are important for multiple recipes. The main fish can all be caught using the same bait, thankfully, and you can also find some of them while fishing in town. Here are the locations you can spot each and how to catch them:
Preferred bait
Jellyfish
Caterpillar
Can be found when casting your fishing rod in bubbles in the water.
The Forest Fish Locations
The fish you find in The Forestrequire a different type of bait, and it’s preferable that you upgrade your fishing rod, because they are quite a bit more difficult to catch than those you find on The Farm. You can find Barkfin, Moss Darter, Ironjaw Pike, and Stingrays in the Forest, as well as Watercress, Scallops, and Crayfish, which you can pick up and catch along the sandbank to use in recipes. Here’s where you can find all fish of the Forest:
Moss Darter
Grasshopper
On the other side of the river, near the fast travel point.
The Mountain Fish Locations
The Mountain is where fishing gets truly challenging, because fish loop around rocks and there is seaweed in the water that will slow your rod down if you get stuck in it. So, upgrade your rod as much as you can, then you’ll be able to find Ice Eel, Granite Grouper, Frostfang, and Squid to complete your recipes. The other ingredients you’ll need include Crabs, Seabean, and Oysters, which can all be found on the banks of the ponds and rivers in the biome. Here’s how to locate and catch the main four:
Frostfang
Earthworm
In a pond below some rolling snowballs about halfway up the Mountain.
Squid
By casting your fishing line in bubbles on the surface of water.
The Jungle Fish Locations
The Jungle is the final locationinLuma Island, and you’re required to catch fish here to become a master fisherman (and the fish here are the most difficult to catch). Like the Mountain, you’ll have to navigate around rocks and seaweed in the water, but you’ll also have to watch out for small whirlpools that catch your bobber and spin it around endlessly if you don’t get it out.
Like the other biomes, you’ll need to find four main types of fish here: Bladefin, Raging Marlin, Tornadofish, and Octopus. Additionally, you’ll be able to find Caviar, Lobsters, and Abalone along the beaches and sandbanks near ponds to complete a few of the recipes. Here’s where to find the four fish you need to catch around the Jungle:
Bladefin
Dragonfly
In the ocean water near where you first land in the Jungle.
Tornadofish
Tornadofish can be found in a specific alcove in the North-West part of the Jungle. You’ll need to wade through the river and cross under a stone arch to find them.
Octopus
Octopus can be caught by casting your rod in the bubbles on the surface of water in the Jungle.
