Being a Cook is a great way to ensure that youalways have a solid income stream, because you can plant trees that will continue baring fruit to make dishes. Fruit Salad only needs 10 oranges and 10 apples to make after you make it the first time, and it sells for 2288 gold. It’s also a great profession to have in tandem with theBrewerbranch, because they largely use the same ingredients to make the dishes and drinks you need.
Brewer Profession
The Brewer profession is something of a cousin to the Cook profession, because, as mentioned previously, they largely use the same ingredients to make the drinks you need. Yourmentor will be Bill, who can be found on the far west side of the town.
Unlike the Cook profession, though, you’ll need to do some more exploring in order to progress.Making drinks costs one bottle each, which you need to make from glass, and you’ll need ingredients likeForest Berriesin order to make different farm colors to add to the drinks. As such, being a Brewer is a great choice for anyone who wants to focus on farming but also have a bit more incentive to explore.
It’s also advisable toget your hands on Everseeds as quickly as you can, because many drinks cost quite a few crops that can only be planted and harvested once. These are usually found while exploring, but you can also buy them from theMushroom Manwhen you find his shop.
Lastly, drinks take quite some time to make, so you’ll actually want totake both the Brewer and Cook professions at the same time,so you can have something to focus on while they’re being prepared.
Treasure Hunter Profession
The Treasure Hunter profession is for anyone who wants to exploreLuma Islandand find all of its secrets.Captain Quincy is your guide, and he can be found in the far south of the town near the harbor. He’ll also give you apet dog companionto help you dig up treasures, so if anything is a plus for this profession, it’s the free pup.
However, you’ll still want to get your hands on aLuma Eggas soon as possible, because they can also dig up treasures, and you needLuma Energyfor a range of different recipes. Besides that, though, Treasure Hunters will spend a lot of their time looking for and gathering materials to makePirate Gearto sell. These materials can be found in chests all around the island, but you can also fish them out of the ocean using magnets.
As such, theFisherman profession is a great combination with being a Treasure Hunter. However, you won’t have a lot of time to settle down at your farm and build it up. So, this profession is for a true explorer who won’t really mind leaving everything behind to find the materials you need to excel on this path.
Blacksmith Profession
The Blacksmith profession is a good one to choose because it combines making money with getting materials you’ll need for crafting stations and other buildings later on.Sylvia is the mentorfor this profession, and she can be found near the entrance to the town.
The main focus of being a Blacksmith isgathering materials you can find in abandoned caves— like Copper and Iron — and then using them to make items that you can sell for money. You’ll also get the ability to make more intricate items like springs, cogs, and anchors, which you can use to make items that sell for more money.
Blacksmithing is a nice balance for players who’d like to explore but don’t necessarily want to go out of their way to find specialized materials like Treasure Hunters. So, you can do your mining and smithing, but it’ll still be easy enough to have a thriving farm with crops and animals as well. You can make a good amount of money on this career path, but you’ll also never find that you run out of important materials that you need to craft buildings and other items for working on your farm.
Fisherman Profession
Being a Fisherman inLuma Islandisone of the most lucrative professions, and it mixes exploration with cooking.Pearl is the mentorfor this career path, and she can be found far south of the town at the opposite end of the harbor.
Like other professions, you’ll unlock new dishes to cook as you progress, and you’ll be able to sell them for money. The exploration bit comes when you need to start looking for different types of fish in order to make these dishes. The unique thing about the Fisherman profession is that you only really need theFishermen’s Galleryto make these dishes and progress in your profession, whereas most others need at least two crafting stations in order to do so.
To catch fish, you’ll need to first catch various bugs that you may find on the ground in each area. Using your net, you’ll be able to catch a range of them, and you’ll need stronger bugs as you open new areas like the Forest.This profession matches quite well with Treasure Hunter, because you can switch to finding underwater treasure seamlessly.
Jewelrycrafter Profession
The Jewelrycrafter profession is similar to the Blacksmith profession, but a little more dangerous to do. Thementor for this path is Milo, who can usually be found hanging around the entrance to the town near the tool upgrade station.
You’ll need to mine a lot while on this career path, but instead of finding normal ore like copper or iron, you’ll need to keep an eye out forBronze Rubble,Tiger’s Eye,Mountain Crystal, and more shiny things that exist in the abandoned caves. The dangerous part of this job is that when you mine things like Mountain Crystal, you’ll easily attract spiders and ghosts that will attack you on sight. So,ensure you have your whip equippedwhen you head into the caves.
Once you have your ore, you’re going to spend most of your time crafting jewelry to sell. You’ll be using theJewelrycrafter’s Workbenchto do so, and you can make some unique items that sell for a good price. If you’re one for mining and crafting interesting items, then this is definitely the profession for you.
Archaeologist Profession
The Arcaeologist profession is the more dangerous and daring version of the Treasure Hunter profession, and for this reason, it’snot the best one to pick when you’re first starting outinLuma Island.Arianne will be your mentorwhen you choose to take it, and she can be found at the very north of the town on a hill next to the Pet Shop.
While this profession is not the best choice for a start, it is definitely worth picking up when you’re ready. It gives you access to areas that are otherwise inaccessible inAncient Temples, and you’ll find special relics that you need to repair inside.
You’ll need materials from the mines, like Bronze and Copper, to repair them, sothis profession goes really well with the Blacksmith or Jewelrycrafterprofessions. But, just like Jewelrycrafting, you’ll need to have your whip ready to fend off enemies while you’re gathering the materials you need to repair the relics.
What’s The Best Profession To Start With In Luma Island?
Depending on what you’d like to do, the best professions to start with inLuma Islandareeither the Cook or Fisherman professions. Cook allows you to focus on growing your farm and getting a steady supply of gold, while fishing gives you the ability to do some exploring while making bank with the dishes it requires to progress.
Getting the ingredients you need for the higher tier dishes in both professions is also quite a lot easier than the others. Fishing can be a little more challenging in this regard, because you need to find some fish in specific areas that are only accessible after you do some exploring. Still, though, the dishes you’re able to create with fishing make you a ton of gold and cansustain your monetary needs comfortably.
