Summary

Popular streamer and online content creator Ludwig Ahgren has announced he is planning to make a return toTwitchonce his current contract with YouTube expires, which is in just a few days. While the streamer has big plans for his grand return toTwitch, the streaming platform from which he got his start, he says he isn’t planning on leaving YouTube entirely behind.

Ludwig Ahgren, who is known online by most simply as Ludwig, has been a prevalent streamer and content creator for a number of years now. Garnering a substantial following on Twitch since 2018, the streamer signed an exclusive deal with YouTube Gaming in November 2021, but now appears ready to return to his original streaming home. The online personality recently made headlines for butting heads with fellow content creator Logan Paul, in whichLudwig fired back at comments Paul maderegarding a dispute over Paul’s Prime drink brand.

Ludwig detailed his near-future moves in a recent broadcast, making it clear that he won’t stop streaming on YouTube once his contract expires on November 30. However, what isn’t clear to him is how splitting the streams between platforms will pan out. Ludwig intends on making a splash with his Twitch return, beginning with “League Week,” where he’ll stream 100 hours ofLeague of Legends, a feat impossible on YouTube considering the platform limits broadcasts to 12 hours. While the initial effort should earn Ludwig plenty offreeLeague of Legendsskins, what comes next will be “step by step.”

While Ludwig’s plans to primarily stream on Twitch again is certainly significant, he isn’t the only high-profile content creator to make his return to the platform. Popular streamerNickmercs has returned to Twitchas well, albeit “primarily.” The shooter-heavy streamer had signed a non-exclusive deal with Twitch rival Kick last year, primarily streaming on the latter since late 2023. This now seems poised to invert itself, with the majority of Nickmercs' future streams happening on Twitch, a similar situation to the one Ludwig finds himself in.

Twitch’s Ongoing Situation

Although several major streaming stars are returning to the popular streaming platform, somemajor advertisers are reportedly leaving Twitch. The company was met with significant backlash after it was discovered that it was preventing those in Israel or Palestine from signing up for accounts for over a year in the wake of the attacks on Israel in October 2023. Attempts to explain that the sign-up blocking was something “inadvertent” have gotten a cynical response online, with one source claiming multiple big-name companies, including Chevron, have reportedly suspended ads onTwitch.
