Summary
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrowis not only casting up but it is also continuing to add crew members to the project. And one big addition to the crew was first rumored and then confirmed by none other than James Gunn. And in the process he confirmed that one of the best cinematographers out there will be coming on board theSupergirlmovie in what has to be a pretty big coup for the DCU.
The new supergirl movie obviously has its lead in the form of House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock, as well as its lead writer intapped writer Ana Nogueira. Nogueria is relatively new to the writing gigs, though herWe WinApple TV+ movie has drawn lots of praise. She’s also looking to be a big part of the DCU as she’s also a writer on the newTeen Titansreboot. It’s clear that Gunn is all about keeping not only the actors in the DCU involved in other projects, but he’s starting to put together a group of directors, writers and crew members who work on more than one project. And that leads one to wonder if the latest addition to theSupergirlmovie might be a sign that he’ll be a part of the DCU beyond this project as well.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Adds Top-Notch Cinematographer
For now, what has been confirmed is that Rob Hardy has officiallyjoined theSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrowcrewas the project’s Cinematographer. This isn’t simply a report by an outlet either. As James Gunn is want to do, he went out of his way to confirm what was at first a rumor. He was confronted about that rumor on social media. A follower posted a picture of the rumors about Hardy and asked Gunn point-blank onThreadsif they were true. The DCU chief wasted no time in responding, “yes, it is!”
Hardy is one of the more celebrated cinematographers in the business thanks to his work onAnnihilation, but he’s got several other big budget and well-liked projectsunder his belt inMission Impossible: FalloutandCivil Warto name a few.
Starring
Milly Alcock, Eve Ridley, Matthias Schoenaerts
Hardy has shown that he can handle these big projects with massive explosions but can also put his personal talented touch on a movie like he did withEx Machina. While Hardy hasn’t been hired for any other DCU projects, or at least it hasn’t been made public, it’s clear this addition is a big one for Gunn and company. The Supergirl movie is coming together nicely not only with Alcock but one of the biggest supportingcast members in Eve Ridley. It would appear that things are ready to shift into another gear.
In the DC Studios movie,Supergirl travels across the galaxyto celebrate her 21st birthday with Krypto the Superdog. Along the way, she meets a young woman named Ruthye and winds up on a murderous quest for revenge. Alcock’s character is expected to appear in next summer’sSupermanmovie before she stars in her own film.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrowis set to hit theaters on July 06, 2025.
