Summary
If fans of thehorrorfranchise agree on one thing, it’s thatScream 7needs a particularly compelling Ghostface. I hate to say anything negative about the slasher franchise I enjoy the most. But I can admit that at least one of the previous Ghostfaces has been disappointing, most notably Ronan Bridger (Scott Foley) inScream 3, which has a rough opening sequence.
Fans are asking big questions about Ghostface, like whetherGhostface needs a motive that isn’t about Sidney Prescott(Neve Campbell).I’m personally torn on whether Ghostface should feel familiar or like someone audiences have never seen before. That’s whyI’m impressed by two fan theories that stand out among the crowd.
I Love These Two Fan Theories About Ghostface’s Role In Scream 7
There are twofan theories about GhostfaceonRedditthat are particularly great. One is abouttwo Ghostfaces being enemiesand the other is abouttwo Ghostfaces who are a couple.
Redditor @Little_Interview5263 wrote:
“What if it’s two ghost faces working against each other. Like the murders are collateral damage for some vendetta the killers have against each other.”
Redditor @MessyMop added to the discussion:
“I am surprised they never did two ghostfaces who were genuinely in love. That mad love thing would be fun. In both 4 and 5 Jill and Richie respectively are using Charlie and Amber’s feeling for them. I want a pair that genuinely can’t get enough of each other.”
I like these two fan theories since they’re complete opposites but somehow both make perfect sense. Everyone knows certain things about Ghostface:the black cape, black and white mask, and goofy yet scary personality. Fans are also used to seeing two Ghostface killers. So what if Ghostface was a team, but they were either in a relationship or fighting against each other? These theories work because they honorGhostface’sScreamfranchise history(namely, that there are usually two killers). But if either of these theories came true, thenScream 7would be reinventing the wheel, which would be fun.
While I’d enjoy seeing a Ghostface couple, if I had to pick between these two fan theories,I’m learning toward two Ghostface killers who are enemies.I think it would be funny to see them going up against one another, especially if one got to Sidney first, and the other was upset. I also think that if two Ghostfaces hated one another, thenone of their motives might not be about Sidney. This would feel fresh, deepen the plot, and add a cool element. As the fan on Reddit noted, perhaps the killers used to be friends and now they’re getting even with one another. But they could also have always been enemies who always planned to be Ghostface and who are mad that the other person has taken on this role. There are so many story possibilities.
However, seeing two Ghostfaces who love each other would still be interesting. Theycould even be connected to someone in Sidney’s life or be an old high school or college classmate. Again, this theory could work since it’s so different. WhenScream 7is in theaters in February 2026, I want to see one or two Ghostface killers who give the other ones a run for their money. If they feel like the same old, same old, it’s going to be a bummer.
Roger L. Jackson Will Voice Ghostface In Scream 7
Roger L. Jackson voiced Ghostface in the first sixScreammovies andhe will come back forScream 7.Jackson is so popular and iconic that it’s no wonder he’s returning. No one else could do this voice, that’s for sure, and Ghostface’s voice is just as memorable as his costume.
In 2019, he was interviewed byViceand shared more about the experience of voicing the famous serial killer. He talked about how enjoyable the process was, which is great to hear about. Jackson said he was a fan of voice work when he was young and as he grew up, he went to the Academy Theatre in Atlanta to learn more about the craft. He also talked about Ghostface’s mysterious identity and said:
“That taps into social media, where people say horrible things and can hide behind a mask. Ghostface could be anyone. It could be your brother, sister, mother or father. Even you! He is the monster that lurks behind the id. He speaks quite deeply to this generation.”
