Morena and Borksen Finish Their Card Game in Hunter x Hunter Chapter 409
ThroughoutHunter x Hunter407 andHunter x Hunter408, the story had one main focus – the card game going on between Morena Prudo and Borksen. InHxH408, Borksen was down to only two cards on her side, the No Card, and the R Card. The No card would mean rejecting to join Morena, and her death. The R card would mean Borksen can choose any of the cards currently in the graveyard as her final answer, giving her full control over the outcome.
The card Borksen will pick will be the one she will be discarding, and the one remaining with her will be her final answer. As long as Morena does not cheat, this leaves Borksen’s odds at 50/50.
Since this is all up to luck, anything really could happen.Borksen could be left with the No card, which would result in her being killed by Morena. Or, perhaps she could find a way to escape, especially with the chaos that would be brought forward by the Martial Law that was just announced at the end ofHxH408.

On the other hand, Borksen could be left with the R card, which would allow her to bring back any card. The obvious choice she would make is bringing back the X card, which will nullify the game and allow her to leave safely. There’s also a chance Borksen will be left with the R card, but not pick the X card. That’s not very likely, but depending on what could go through Borksen’s head, it isn’t impossible. Borksen knows that Morena will simply find another Specialist, and maybe, she will want to try and foil Morena from the inside and not risk more people being harmed. So, all in all, Borksen only has two possible options for her to bring back from the graveyard, with the very likely one being the X card and the unlikely one being the Yes card.
If Borksen picks the X card and leaves safely, she will then inform her comrades of what Morena is up to, which could mean huge trouble for Morena, as she will have more people up her back. Togashi could also definitely choose to expand even more on Morena’s character before the end of the card game, as everything blows over with the current events unfolding.
Martial Law Is Declared in HxH Chapter 409
Benjamin Takes Over the Black Whale
At the end ofHxHchapter 408, a major announcement was made to the entire Black Whale. Martial Law has now been officially declared. This is extremely concerning, but expected. It’s been hinted at quite often now that Martial Law will eventually be declared. The one who declared Martial Law must be none other thanPrince Benjamin, the first Prince of Kakinwho controls the military as Martial Law implies a military takeover.
As to why Benjamin has declared Martial Law, fans do not know.Hunter x Hunterchapter 409 will probably have a flashback, where the author takes the story before Martial Law was declared and has the readers follow the events that will lead to it.
There are many possible reasons why this Martial Law was declared. The first option is due to Ninth Prince Halkenburg. As fans now know,Halkenburg’s body has died, but his consciousness is still alive inside of Might‘s body. Halkenburg was planning to kill Benjamin by deceiving him into believing he died. It could be that Benjamin has caught up to Halkenburg’s actions and thus declared Martial Law.
Another possibility is that the Seventh Prince Luzurus has been killed. Luzurus’s death has been a plan initiated by Melody, Beast Kacho, and Kaiser a few chapters ago.They were planning to kill Luzurusto try and save Fugetsu who might be afflicted by his Nen beast. If Luzurus is dead, Benjamin could blame his death on the mafia, and declare martial law. That is because Luzurus is a benefactor of the Cha-R mafia family. Luzurus’s death might very well be Morena’s own plan. Fans know Kaiser has been acting very weird, and he could, in reality, be controlled by Morena, with an aim to cause Martial Law to be declared.
These two are the main reasons for why a Martial Law was declared, but fans will have to wait and see for HxH 409 for what really happened.
The Phantom Troupe’s Whereabouts Could Be Revealed In HxH Chapter 409
Chrollo is on the Hunt for The Kakin Treasures
The Phantom Troupe have been major players in this arc. Chrollo was seen recently, with him setting the goal of stealing the three Kakin treasures to evolve Skill Hunter. Last time he was seen, he was planning to go on a higher tier, so inHunter x Hunterchapter 409, it’s possible that Chrollo will have already made it high, maybe even to Tier 1. There, he will need to gather clues about the treasures’ whereabouts, and see if they’re even hidden together or not.

Besides Chrollo, other Phantom Troupe members are in action. Feitan and Phinks are on their way to the Heil-Ly hideout. They will probably reach the location in the next chapter. These two could be lifesavers for Borksen, who could die if she is left with the No card. If these two arrive in time, they could definitely intervene.
Meanwhile, Nobunaga, on his side, has separated from the other two, and fans will likely see more of him in HxH 409. Nobunaga will have a major role to play in this arc somehow.
As for Bonolenov, fans know he is probably still around Hisoka, and could be in grave danger. Bonolenov could be the next Phantom Troupe victim.Hisoka is hunting for the Phantom Troupe, and Bonolenov is one of his easiest targets, as his powers are perfectly countered by Bungee Gum.
