Once someone’s HP reaches zero inDragon Quest 3 Remake, they will be killed. When killed in combat, that party member will stay dead evenafter you finish the battleand return to the overworld, as death isn’t naturally undone.
Especially during the early sections of the game, the death of a party member will usually spell the end of an adventure, with your new goal to bring that party member back to life. XP is not shared with the dead, and fighting one party member down is already reason enough to quite progress to another difficult fight. For those dark times when a party member does die; here’s how to revive them.
How To Revive Party Members In Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake
For the most part, the best way to bring someone back from the dead is throughresurrection at a nearby church, so it’s best to always haveChimera wings to fast travelback to a town anytime. Churches are made with the trident-like icon on the map, and while they are sometimes a building, some smaller cities will just have a Priest or Priestess on the side of the road who can still perform all the same duties.
Churches are also the location where you need to go tosave your game.
At the church or priest, the third option from the top will be Resurrection. Resurrection from the church has a100% chance of working, though it will cost a fair price depending on who is being resurrected. The factors that affect the price are:
While church prices will continue to increase in regards to Resurrection, players can do it themselves with the spell Zin.Priests learn the spellZin at level 10, and this spell only has a chance of bringing back a dead party member. There is a stronger version of this skill that is learned later on and has a 100% chance at resurrection, though early on in the game you’ll have to choose between the church or trying to cast Zin a few times.
If you have a Priest who can cast Zin, you can use a nearby Inn to greatly cut the cost of Resurrection. Simply cast Zin as many times as needed andrest at the Inn the restore the Priest and parties' MP back to full, making the total cost of Resurrection only be a dozen gold or so at most depending on the town you are in.
