Once you’ve started to build coops and barns on your farm inFields of Mistria, you’ll be able to buy animals. This will eventually enable you to farm produce, such as milk, that you wouldn’t normally be able to get anywhere else. If you want to adopt rarer animals such as the capybara or alpaca, you should doFields of Mistria’s story quests. With animals, you’ll need to let them in and out of their coop/barn by using the bell on the door. Animals should be let out during normal weather; you should keep them in during storms.

However, this process can grow tedious and drain your in-game time. InFields of Mistria’s first massive update (released Jun 30, 2025), a new carpenter’s item was added. The Big Bell can be used to call in or call out all your animals simultaneously. This makes it a worthwhile item, and one you should consider crafting as soon as you unlock it.

The Big Bell is unlocked by choosingThe Bell Tollsin theRanching Skill Perks. Ranching Skill points can be farmed by taking care of your animals, such as feeding them by hand or petting them, andletting them outdoors in good weather. Note that letting them out during bad weather (i.e: rain and snow) will make the animal(s) unhappy.

You will receive the Big Bell crafting recipe. When rung, the Big Bell calls out or sends in all animals into their buildings.

Aside from The Bell Tolls, there’s Maximum Milling and Barnyard Bounty III. Each of these have their own uses, but if you’re just reaching level 45 Ranching and have limited Essence, you should get The Bell Tolls, first.

Once you have the Perk, the Big Bell can be made at aCrafting Station. There’s one outside the Carpenter’s Shop (in The Narrows) and near the school in Mistria. You can also buy a Crafting Station for 1000 Tesserae from the Carpenter’s Shop, andplace it in/outside your home.

The Big Bell is alevel 0 Woodcrafting Recipe. You’re going to need the following materials to make it:

  • Currently, you can’t buy Ingots from the Blacksmith’s Shop. However, Balor occasionally stocks Ingots at the wagon, so if you have the money, you should stop by and see if they’re there. The prices are as follows:

How to Use the Big Bell

Where to Place It on Your Farm

Once you have the Big Bell, you can place it anywhere on your farm the same way you would place buildings/decorations. The Big Bell doesnotneed to be next to the barns/coops to work. However, itdoesneed to be outside to work. To use it, just inspect it and select “Call Outside” or “Send Inside.”

If you’re using the bell tocall every animal out at once, then it’ll be trickier to hand-feed them, as they’ll head towards any nearby patch of grass/feed. If there’s an animal you’re trying to raise affection with, then just use the bell on the barn/coop itself.

Be sure to check inside the coops/barns for any items your animals may have left overnight, such as Milk or Shiny Beads.
