During the ‘There and Back Again’ main story mission inStalker 2, you’ll eventually acquire aDetectorby looting from one of the dead scientists, Petro Yerokin. After grabbing the Detector, you must use the signal to find the nearby anomaly –luckily, it’s right outside the facility.
Now, you must use the newly acquired Detector tofind an Artifact in the anomalous field, where all that green oozy stuff is by the barrel on its side. This objective is rather simple, but actually finding the exact spot of the Artifact can be tricky if you haven’t done it before.
How to Find the Artifact in the Anomalous Field in Stalker 2
There and Back Again
Follow the yellow exclamation marker on your compass to find the anomalous field. The detector will start to beep the closer you get to it. If you go to theleft side of the barrel, the artifact (Slug) should appear above one of the radioactive spots. A pick-up prompt will pop up when you get close to it. Just be sure to back away from the ooze as soon as you grab it, or you’ll continue to take radiation damage.
If you accidentally switch your item/weapons and are unsure how to bring the detector back, just hold the left shoulder button (consoles), and then the Detector will be on the bottom left (left directional button).

How to Use ‘Em
After grabbing the Artifact, you can now equip it in the inventory. Open it using thedown directional button(Xbox) or theI key(PC), and then justdrag and drop the Slug artifactinto the inventoryslot aboveStalker 2’s Quick Access bar. If you don’t see the Equipment section open, just click on the left control stick (Xbox) or Q (PC).
The Slug artifact has Weak Radio Protection. So, if you have another Artifact that causes radiation, this Artifact can cancel out the negative effects.
