Summary
Thanks to the latest beta build of Version 5.3,Genshin Impactplayers can finally take a look at Citlali’s splash art. It’s no secret that Mavuika has drawn plenty of excitement sinceGenshin Impactunveiled the cast of Natlan. After all, the Pyro Archon was bound to generate no small amount of hype. However, one thing that the developers were likely caught off-guard by was Citlali’s rising popularity, especially after her story debut in Version 5.1.
Citlali is a powerful shaman of the Masters of the Night-Wind, and she is also among the oldest characters inGenshin Impact. Her personality can best be described as a drunken, more extreme version of Faruzan, which, mixed with her caring nature, quickly endeared her to theGenshin Impactcommunity.Citlali inGenshin Impactis expected to become playable during the second half of Version 5.3, and her ability kit paints her as 5-Star Cryo Shield Support.
Thesplash art for Citlali was shared by Seele Leaks, and it shows “Granny Itztli” resting on a large pillow in her iconic dress. The comparisons between Citlali andLayla inGenshin Impactcouldn’t be more obvious, as both characters have a star theme while also being Cryo Shield Supports. However, as opposed to Layla, Citlali is only the third 5-Star Shield Support inGenshin Impact, after Zhongli and Baizhu.
Genshin Impact: Citlali’s Ability Kit Explained
Many players feel that theCryo element inGenshin Impactis in dire straits, and as a result, the community has seen Citlali as a potential savior. Unfortunately, her ability kit may not provide the answer they seek, as Citlali primarily focuses on buffing Pyro and Hydro characters on top of providing interruption resistance via her shield. Much like Ganyu inGenshin Impact, Citlali will have a Cryo construct via her Elemental Skill, and should work as a viable teammate for Neuvillette. However, her Elemental Skill will only apply Cryo twice, and her Elemental Burst will only apply it once, which potentially makes her less valuable for a Pyro hypercarry like Arlecchino.
It should be noted that ability kits aren’t set in stone, and they can wildly change over the course of a beta. Though Citlali certainly retains her charm as aGenshin Impactcharacter, many players are rightfully worried that her gameplay value will be less than what she arguably deserves. A 5-Star Shield Support, on paper, should be appealing to both new and oldGenshin Impactaccounts, but many are wondering if Citlali will be able to measure up with benefits provided by Zhongli and Baizhu.
