Summary
Genshin Impactcontinues to increase the hit points of bosses in the Spiral Abyss, but Version 5.3 is also set to introduce new Blessings for Floor 12 as well – thus encouraging players to use the currently featured banner characters. While the Spiral Abyss has undoubtedly evolved since the launch ofGenshin Impact, it always felt like it was adapting to an ever-changing meta. From Venti, Ganyu, and Ayaka, to Neuvillette, Arlecchino, and Furina – the Spiral Abyss was designed to challenge a player’s best team against powerful bosses, no matter the era.
That being said, whileCryo characters inGenshin Impactmay not be as powerful as they used to be in their heyday, players can still use Ayaka and Shenhe to consistently clear the Spiral Abyss in good time. However, the Fontaine era has seen a jump in the amount of damage that players needed to clear Floor 12, and this trend has certainly continued in Natlan.
Arecent overview made through HomDGCathas shown that the hit points in the Spiral Abyss have been on a consistent upward trend since Version 4.1, with one of the chambers in Version 5.3 having six million hit points in total. The start of this trend coincides with the debut of Neuvillette as aplayableGenshin Impactcharacter. It’s no secret that many players consider Neuvillette to be the most powerful hypercarry – he’s easy to build, easy to play, and isn’t demanding when it comes to team composition. This forced the developers to rebuild the difficulty curve of the Spiral Abyss around Neuvillette, and all Natlan hypercarries were designed to match this new level of power.
Genshin Impact: Spiral Abyss Floor 12 Blessings
While new Support characters such as Xilonen and Xianyun have raised the potential of old hypercarries considerably, there is another change coming to Version 5.3 that could cause no small amount of controversy. Blessings are coming back to Floor 12, and the ones for Version 5.3 will make the Spiral Abyss significantly easier for Arlecchino and Mavuika – who happen to be banner characters in the upcoming patch. Combined with another leap in hit points for the bosses on Floor 12, theSpiral Abyss inGenshin Impactis now openly designed with featured characters in mind.
However, it would be a falsehood to state that this puts other characters at a disadvantage. The Pyro buff for the first half can work withGenshin Impactcharacters like Hu Taoas well, while Chasca certainly benefits in the second half due to having Nightsoul-aligned damage in her ability kit. What makes the trend worrying is that not everyGenshin Impactplayer will have alternatives ready for every Spiral Abyss, and as a result, may feel compelled to pull for new characters that they may not necessarily want. It remains to be seen how this will affect power creep in the long term, but it should be noted that the bosses in Version 5.3 have double the hit points of the bosses in Version 4.1.
