Summary
Recent information obtained from the beta servers forGenshin Impacthas given players an overview of the challenges that await in the Spiral Abyss in Version 5.3. The Spiral Abyss has evolved considerably since the launch ofGenshin Impact, and while the base format is unchanged, it cannot be denied that the developers have attempted to improve upon the experience.
Adding theImaginarium Theater toGenshin Impactgave the Spiral Abyss more breathing room, as it was no longer the sole endgame activity. Furthermore, Version 5.1 added the ability for players to skip the first two Floors in the Spiral Abyss based on how well they performed in the previous cycle. While its difficulty has seen a huge jump since Version 4.1, old teams can still reliably clear the Spiral Abyss when used properly.
That being said, theSpiral Abyss inGenshin Impactcomes with a few extra quirks for Version 5.3. Not only are blessings back on Floor 12, but they are more powerful than ever before. Rather controversially, they cater to the featured banner characters for the patch by providing a bonus to Pyro and Nightsoul-aligned DMG. The full lineup for the upcoming Spiral Abyss wasdatamined via HomDGCat, and it notably features the Solitary Suanni for the first time since its introduction in Version 4.4.
It is important to mention that the Wayward Hermetic Spiritspeaker is a brand-newworld boss inGenshin Impact. She will make her debut in Version 5.3, both in the open world and the Spiral Abyss, and is designed to favor Pyro characters. Overall, the second half seems to prefer a hypercarry like Kinich, as Burning and Nightsoul attacks are especially effective against the abyssal shield of both the Tenebrous Papilla and the Tenebrous Mimesis.
On the other hand, the first half of the Spiral Abyss is definitely made with Citlali in mind. Many theorycrafters believe thatCitlali inGenshin Impactis going to be the best Melt support in the game, on top of being Mavuika’s ideal teammate. While Mavuika and Arlecchino are expected to make short work of the first half, players will likely be able to brute-force their way through the Spiral Abyss with more unorthodox options, such as Navia. The new Spiral Abyss will kick off on July 17, 2025, and it will last until June 12, 2025. However,Genshin Impactplayers will be able to prepare Mavuika and Citlali ahead of time, as both characters are expected to hit the Event Banners on January 1.
