Summary

The latest changes to Mavuika inGenshin Impactfurther increase her damage potential as a hypercarry, but they come at the cost of making the Pyro Archon more niche. In many ways, Natlan has been a departure from the traditions that make upGenshin Impact. For example, Version 5.3 will mark the first Lantern Rite to not have a featured 5-Star from Liyue. Furthermore, Citlali and Mavuika are rumored to debut on the Event Banners during the same phase of the patch.

In a similar vein, Mavuika herself is an atypical Archon. Instead of being a universalSupport character inGenshin Impact, the Pyro Archon is slated to be one of the most powerful hypercarries in the game. While Mavuika’s off-field potential isn’t terrible by any measure, it’s clear that the developers built her ability kit around having a lot of field time. SomeGenshin Impactplayers have found this to be a controversial decision, as they were hoping for Mavuika to provide an alternative to 4-Stars such as Bennett and Xiangling, while others have embraced the potential of a true hypercarry Archon. That being said, the latest changes to Mavuika won’t please either camp.

According to Rain, the newest beta build for Version 5.3 comes with a major nerf to Mavuika’s Fighting Spirit. In place of Elemental Energy, Mavuika accumulates Fighting Spirit to activate her Elemental Burst, and she has two means of doing so. The first is by having her party members spend Nightsoul points, while the second is by having her party members hit opponents with Normal Attacks. The latest build for Version 5.3 reduces the amount of Fighting Spirit obtained from Normal Attacks by 0.25 – to the benefit ofNatlan characters inGenshin Impact, as spending Nightsoul points remains the most optimal way of generating Fighting Spirit.

Constellations

While a decrease of 0.25 may seem small, it throws many potential non-Natlan teams off-balance. Under the new changes, even Normal Attack units like Ayato would struggle to fill up Mavuika’s Fighting Spirit – as prior to the nerf, he would only barely reach the bare minimum during a standard rotation. This effectively locks Mavuika to Natlan Support characters like Citlali and Xilonen. The second notable change toMavuika inGenshin Impactbuffs her second Constellation, further increasing her potential as a hypercarry.

The Pyro Archon has plenty of fans, and she will no doubt have a popular banner in Version 5.3, though many players can’t help but wonder if the changes have made her less appealing. Despite having better numbers than Arlecchino orHu Tao inGenshin Impact, Mavuika has less flexibility in choosing who her teammates are going to be. Furthermore, her Constellations lock a significant amount of power away from her baseline kit, which is a critique that was given to both Citlali and Mavuika after the first set of balance changes. Version 5.3 is set to launch on July 07, 2025, andGenshin Impactplayers will be able to pull for Mavuika straight away.
