While it has arguably been an issue since Sumeru, the current drought forCryo characters inGenshin Impactis nothing short of unprecedented, with both Ganyu and Shenhe missing from the Event Banners for over 500 days. In fact, it has been 615 days since Shenhe was last featured as a 5-Star character, and she most likely will not appear on the Event Banners until late February 2025 (at the earliest).

While it’s not necessarily a unique solution, it may arguably be the easiest one to implement. Not only would it solve the issue of limited 5-Stars not appearing in nearly two years, but it would guarantee players a way to obtain theirfavoriteGenshin Impactcharacterat least once per year.
How Birthday Banners Could Improve the Banner System in Genshin Impact
Not only do many players agree with joeycloud, but they feel that a rework of theEvent Banners inGenshin Impactis inevitable. The Birthday Banner, as proposed by the Reddit thread, would allow players to roll for a 5-Star or 4-Star character on a standard Pity system. The 5-Star would be guaranteed at 90 Pity, whereas the 4-Star would be guaranteed at 10 Pity, and any further rolling upon obtaining the birthday character would be forbidden.
While an argument could be made that a Birthday Banner is only a band-aid rather than a permanent fix, players would certainly find it preferable over theill-received Chronicled Banner from Version 4.5. AsGenshin Impactapproaches 100 playable characters, and with each patch only having four featured 5-Stars, the argument for Triple Banners or Birthday Banners is more relevant than ever. Thankfully, the developers have shown a desire to make changes to the gacha system in favor of players, but realistically, theGenshin Impactcommunity shouldn’t expect any changes until after the Lantern Rite.
