Fractal Design North XL
The North XL by Fractal Design features a large and sophisticated design, suitable for a vast majority of living spaces, so long as there is enough vertical space to properly display this elegant beast. Offering a wide range of chassis fan and radiator compatibility up to 420 mm, the North XL is a magnificent option for both water-cooled and air-cooled PCs.
TheFractal Design North XLperfectly represents what the company is all about. It blends wooden accents into a PC case, which makes it look like a piece of furniture rather than a workhorse machine. There is no tempered glass panel on this case, so the components are completely hidden. It can support most cooling system configurations and is easy to build in.
There are a few different versions of the North XL, and the Charcoal Black chassis with Walnut Front and dark tinted TG side panel is discounted to$140on Newegg. The same chassis, but with a light tented TG side panel, is even cheaper at$112 on Best Buy.
The Pop XL Air, on the other hand, is the more traditional PC case with a mesh front panel and tempered glass side panel. Like the North XL, it can also accommodate up to anE-ATXmotherboardand there are ample expansion options. The overall dimensions are slightly larger than the North XL, so it can fit a longer GPU. However, it cannot fit 420mm radiators anywhere, which the North XL can do at the front.
The more budget friendly Pop XL Air is available for$80for the Black version and the deal is live on Newegg. Unfortunately, there is no discount on the White version.
Fractal Design Era 2, Terra ITX, and Mood ITX PC Cases
Fractal Design Era 2
The Era 2 from Fractal Design is an aesthetically pleasing mini-ITX PC case that features a combination of aluminum and walnut. The case can accommodate ITX motherboards, up to 326 mm GPUs, and up to 70 mm tall CPU coolers. The Era 2 can fit an SFX power supply as well as an SFX-L PSU.
Starting the Era 2, it is a stunning lookingmini-ITXcasethat uses a combination of anodized aluminum and solid walnut. Despite its compact form factor, it is relatively easier to build in, thanks to the easily detachable panels and the flexible interior. Again, there are no tempered glass panels, and Fractal has made sure there is plenty of ventilation.
The Era 2 is available in Midnight Blue, Silver, and Charcoal Gray, all three of which have been discounted to$170on Newegg.
Fractal Design Terra
Terra is a PC case designed and engineered to reshape the small form factor gaming experience. It includes a PCIe 4.0 riser cable and features a stepless, slidable central wall for build flexibility, providing space for a powerful GPU up to 322 mm long. Terra incorporates boutique design features such as thick panels cut from anodized aluminum, CNC-milled details, and FSC-certified solid walnut.
The Terra is anothermini-ITXPC case with wooden accents, but it is even more compact than the Era 2. Similar to the Era 2, all the panels come off to make it easier to build in, and there is plenty ofperforation for airflow. It is a mostly aluminum case with a small walnut accent at the front, housing the front I/O. It is available in Jade, Silver, and Graphite colors.
Newegg and Amazon have the Graphite and Jade versions of the Terra ITX discounted to$140. The Silver, however, is still at $180.
Fractal Design Mood ITX
The Fractal Design Mood ITX PC case is a step away from the typical wood and aluminum cases that the company is known for. Instead, it brings a full fabric covered enclosure that slides off for easy access to the build area. It is a vertical case that supports mini-ITX motherboards and can fit up to 325 mm GPUs and up to 114 mm tall CPU coolers.
For the Mood ITX, Fractal has gone with a vertical design like the NZXT H1 or the HYTE Revolt 3. It has also ditched the wooden accents for afabric covered enclosure. With the stand, the Mood PC case looks like a large smart speaker that blends perfectly with modern minimalist decor. The entire enclosure slides off and gives you easy access to the internals.
