FortniteRemix Chapter 2 is set to last until December 6, which marks the start of Chapter 6. While the current iteration of the game offers plenty to enjoy, including the return ofOGFortniteChapter 2, many fans are already shifting their focus to what’s coming next. Interestingly, it appears that Epic Games has yet to take full advantage of a clear marketing opportunity.
The first act ofArcaneSeason 2 was recently released, following its confirmation shortly after Season 1 ended. With a production cost of $250 million, making it the most expensive animated series to date, the show based onLeague of Legendshas achieved massive success, becoming the most popular Netflix series across over 60 countries. However, whenFortniteandArcanefans visited theFortniteItem Shop on November 11, they found no sign of the Jinx or Vi skins from 2021 and 2022.
Fortnite Should Reignite Its Arcane Collaboration
Arcane Season 2’s Popularity Could Drive Significant Revenue for Fortnite
According toExploding Topics,Fortnitegenerated over $9 billion in its first two full years since launch, with crossover and themed events increasing its monthly revenue by about 23%. While specific numbers have not been released, Epic Games likely saw significant revenue from the sale ofArcane-themed skins inFortnite, particularly the Jinx and Vi bundles. Though items from theArcane: League of LegendsSet have made multiple reappearances in the game, it has now been over 1,000 days since players could last acquire anything from the collaboration.
The Arcane Jinx skin launched in November 2021, with the Arcane Vi skin following in February 2022.
With the immense buzz surrounding the second season ofArcaneand the excitement from theLeague of Legends2024 Season World Championshipin October, it’s clear thatFortniteshould revisit its successful collaboration with the show. Reintroducing the popular Jinx and Vi skins, along with the potential addition of new skins like Ekko, Caitlyn, or Viktor would allow Epic Games to capitalize on the growing hype. Doing so would also tap into the ever-expanding fan bases of both franchises.
Fortnite Shouldn’t Wait Too Long for Its Arcane Season 2 Crossover
Since theArcaneVi skin arrived inFortnitejust three months afterArcaneSeason 1 premiered on Netflix, there remains a chance thatFortnitewill team up with Riot Games for a crossover centeredaroundArcaneSeason 2. However, it’s worth noting that other Riot Games titles, such asValorantandLeague of Legends, have already taken action to promote the new season in their respective games.Valorantreleased anArcaneSeason 2 Collector’s Set, whileLeague of Legendsintroduced several new champion skins to coincide with the season’s release. This includes, but isn’t necessarily limited to, Brawler Vi, Shimmer Lab Singed, Commander Caitlyn, and Prestige Commander Caitlyn.
Fortunately, the ongoing split ofArcaneSeason 2 into three separate acts means thattheFortniteItem Shopstill has plenty of time to capitalize on the content, keeping the collaboration alive and the buzz maintained throughout the season.Fortnitecould extend the event through the end of the year or into early 2025, keeping the hype over the nine episodes active while potentially aligning with the progression of the show.
