In a recent chat withGamesRadar, Naoki Hamaguchi noted that he wants to bring theFinal Fantasy 7 Remakeseries to as many players as possible, though no exact dates for upcoming ports were provided. However, Hamaguchi did give Xbox a shoutout, announcing his support of the brand. “This is just a personal opinion now, but I’ve got an Xbox myself,” he said. “I think it’s a great hardware platform. I do like Xbox.” In March, the wildly popular MMOFinal Fantasy 14made the jump to Xbox, prompting many fans to demand even more titles in the long-running series.

Additionally, Hamaguchi explained that Square Enix’s decision to branch out to other platforms was indicative of an overall shift in the gaming industry as a whole. In October, Microsoft announced that Xbox first-party titles would continue making their way to PlayStation and Nintendo consoles in the future, withDoom: The Dark AgesandIndiana Jones and the Great Circleset to appear on PlayStation 5in 2025. According to Hamaguchi, publishers were once able to release a title on a single platform without issue, but with so many gaming options to choose from these days, companies now need to be more aggressive to draw in players.
