On November 26,Final Fantasy 14Patch 7.11 went live, adding the long-awaited Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) raid to the game. Alongside the launch of its sixth Ultimate raid challenge,Final Fantasy 14Patch 7.11 also includes some PVP Job adjustments and new rewards for achievement hunters to obtain.

Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) is an updated version of the Eden raid series from theShadowbringersexpansion. The raid’s namesake and likeness are taken from themost powerful Guardian Force inFinal Fantasy 8. Although other references toFinal Fantasy 8are featured in the Eden raids, the story focuses on the characters Ryne and Gaia, who work to restore elemental balance to The Empty, a barren wasteland ravaged by the Flood of Light. Eden features 12 raid encounters, including seven against alternate versions ofFinal Fantasy 14’s Primals, such as Titan and Shiva. The Savage version of Eden’s twelfth tier culminates in a battle against Gaia herself, who assumes the mantle of the Oracle of Darkness.

Althoughthe Eden raidswere an outstanding challenge duringShadowbringers, Patch 7.11 gaveFinal Fantasy 14players another tough task.According to the patch notes, Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) can only be challenged by players who have completed The Arcadion’s fourth round on Savage difficulty. Once that part is finished, players must speak to the Wandering Minstrel in Tuliyollal, which will unlock the game’s sixth Ultimate raid. Bosses from the Eden raid series such as the Fatebreaker, Shiva, and the Oracle of Darkness have been confirmed to appear in the new Ultimate challenge. However, no teams had fully cleared Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) at the time of writing. The rewards for defeating it include a new title and an Oracle Totem that can be exchanged for an Ultimate Edenmorn weapon of the player’s choosing by speaking to a Viera NPC named Uah’shepya in Solution Nine.

Alongside the launch of the new Ultimate raid,Final Fantasy 14made some PVP Job changes in Patch 7.11, on top ofthe PVP rework included in Patch 7.1two weeks prior. These changes saw the Astrologian, Paladin, and Red Mage nerfed, while other Jobs like Samurai, Machinist, and Viper were buffed to varying degrees. New rewards in exchange for achievement certificates have also been added in Patch 7.11. Players can obtain them by speaking to Jonathas in Old Gridania.

Further Job tuning is expected inFinal Fantasy 14Patch 7.15, which launches on December 17. With Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) now available, only time will tell what Square Enix has planned for upcomingUltimate raid challengesinDawntrailand beyond.

Battle System

The high-end duty Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) has been added.

Like a river, the future winds in boundless ways. A single ripple may alter the course of its flow─and as one ripple leads to another, myriad are the possibilities.

So it is in this land, once blighted by the Flood of Light, where the resistance of many gave way to a morrow blessed by the night sky.

If, similarly, the future wrought by two young women were but one of countless possibilities, what other forms could their morrow have taken?

Fascinated by such visions, the wandering minstrel weaves a ballad of futures rewritten.

Requirements

After completing AAC Light-heavyweight M4 (Savage), speak with the Wandering Minstrel in Tuliyollal (X:11.1 Y:14.6) as a level 100 Disciple of War or Magic.

Entering Futures Rewritten (Ultimate)

Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) can only be accessed via the Raid Finder after forming a party of eight players who have all completed AAC Light-heavyweight M4 (Savage).

Completion Reward

Upon completing Futures Rewritten (Ultimate), players can earn a separate reward once per week.

Players who have yet to receive that week’s reward can still claim it even if other members of the party have completed the duty prior to the weekly reset.

The reward can be exchanged with Uah’shepya in Solution Nine (X:8.7 Y:13.5) for ultimate Edenmorn weapons.

Reward eligibility is reset every Tuesday at 12:00 a.m. (PST)

PVP Job Changes

With Season Twelve currently underway, we’ve made several adjustments based on win rates to strengthen jobs that are currently struggling, temper those that are overperforming, and otherwise improve competitive gameplay.

Changes to action effects that extend beyond numerical adjustments will be considered for future patches based on player feedback.

Paladin

Compared to other tanks, paladins held excessively high win rates, so we have made adjustments to both offensive and defensive actions.

Shield Smite in particular was greatly affecting the course of matches, which is why we have extended its cooldown timer.

In terms of defensive adjustments, we have reduced the regenerative properties of Sacred Claim, granted by Imperator, and adjusted Holy Sheltron’s barrier absorption.

Since Holy Sheltron’s damage-dealing effect is reliant upon its barrier’s potency, however, we have increased the percentage to be converted into attack power, so as to avoid any extreme adjustments.

Warrior

Compared to other tanks, warriors were struggling to remain on the front line and lacking in attack power.

To address these issues, we reduced the amount of HP lost when using Orogeny, allowing it to be comfortably executed in both offensive and defensive situations, and increased the potency of Orogeny and Onslaught.

Monk

Win rates are differing greatly depending on tier, so in order to avoid any extreme adjustments in offense, we’ve decided to decrease the cooldown timer for Wind’s Reply, with the hope that this will expand monk’s options during close combat.

Samurai

We have adjusted the range of Tendo Setsugekka and Tendo Kaeshi Setsugekka to match the feel of the former Midare Setsugekka.

However, we have also reduced the effect duration for Meikyo Shisui to compensate for this change and prevent an uptick in already healthy win rates.

Viper

Compared to other melee DPS jobs, we felt viper to be somewhat lacking on the offensive, from overall damage to KO counts.

To address these issues, we reduced the cooldown timer for Bloodcoil and raised the potency of a variety of offensive actions, thereby increasing efficiency on the front line and allowing for easier KOs.

Machinist

We increased the potency accumulated for each strike of Wildfire and decreased the maximum number of stacks from five to four in order to improve playability.

Additionally, by reducing the cooldown timer for Full Metal Field, we hope to give machinists more options in battle, such as combining the use of this action with Wildfire and/or taking advantage of Overheated’s effect more often.

Black Mage

As win rates across all tiers are currently low, adjustments have been made to offensive abilities.

Cast times and cooldown timers for all actions have been reduced to alleviate difficulty in regards to spell casting. This should allow for an easier transition between High Fire II and High Blizzard II.

Additionally, compared with their ice-aspected counterparts Wreath of Ice and Frost Star, we found fire-aspected Wreath of Fire and Flare Star to be slightly less efficient, so we increased their potency.

Summoner

We increased the potency of Crimson Cyclone to compensate for the risk of rushing an opponent.

Furthermore, by shortening the cooldown timer for Necrotize, we hope to increase access to instant-cast Ruin IV and allow summoners more precise mobility, especially when retreating from the front line.

Red Mage

Red mage currently boasts high win rates thanks to a plethora of talents, including advanced mobility, crowd control, and support to allies.

When these individual abilities, particularly buffs, are synergized, they result in highly efficient KOs and team support.

to maintain balance in battle, we have decreased buffs received from Displacement and Embolden, and curtailed both the offensive potency and healing effects of Prefulgence.

Pictomancer

We reduced the cast time and cooldown timer for Creature Motif in order to improve playability.

We also reduced the cooldown timer for Living Muse, allowing high-level abilities to be used more often, thereby increasing pictomancer’s offensive capabilities.

Astrologian

The previous update to astrologian added new movement actions and revamped arcana actions in order to improve playability.

As a result of higher numbers across the board, this job is now incredibly powerful.

While maintaining the integrity of astrologian’s current playability, we have made adjustments to overpowered aspects of each type of action.
