Summary
AFinal Fantasy 14player has discovered that the developers have fixed a mistake that’s been around in Old Gridania since theA Realm Reborndays of the game. WithFinal Fantasy 14’s latest update, the issue has now been amended.
While the biggest changes thus far came from thefirst graphical overhaul patch that launched alongsideDawntrail,Final Fantasy 14is continuing to upgrade its visuals. The most recentFF14patch has done things like improved foliage, added decorative clutter, and improved the textures of some models and gear. One of these changes has impacted two of the vendors selling in Old Gridania.
Reddit user andFinal Fantasy 14player supadude5000 pointed out that the game’s latest update fixed the booths held by two particular merchants. InOld Gridania’s Shaded Bower marketplace, the vendors O’rhoyod and Alaric can be found, with O’rhoyod selling basic crafting materials, and Alaric selling dyes and dark matter. While many players may have missed it, these two NPCs have had their booths set up incorrectly the entire time. O’rhoyod had swaths of dyed fabric, while Alaric had various crafting ingredients; the opposite what they should have been. Now, the decorations on their booths have been swapped, fixing this oversight.
FF14 Players Surprised by Long-Overlooked Mistake
Many fans have commented on the change, with quite a number admitting that they’d never realized this mistake was there. Some noted that something about the booths had seemed off, but they hadn’t realized it was a matter of being swapped. Some wondered why Square Enix would go through the trouble of moving the props around, rather than simply swapping the NPCs' locations. Some theorized that it was done this way so it wouldn’t conflict with players' muscle memory of knowing where to find the NPC they need to buy things. While this is just one tiny touch inFinal Fantasy 14’s latest update, it’s an indication that the developer is digging deep while looking for ways to improve the game.
Of course, not every update is a resounding success, with theFinal Fantasy 147.1 Patch receiving backlashfor a new hairstyle added to the game. Some might also prefer for the developers' energies to be focused elsewhere, as complaints regarding headgear limitations for certain races, less than ideal second dye channels, and more long-term problems continue to be voiced. As this is the first of the major post-expansion patches, there’s a lot of potential for the future, but players will have to wait and see what it holds.
