Summary
Weeds can be a nuisance to deal with, both in real life and inFarming Simulator 25.Thankfully, just like in the real world, there are a few things that players can do in-game to keep weed growth under control.
Weeds are not only pesky, but can also be quite damaging to crops. SinceFarming Simulator 25is a game centered around productivity, having something that reduces a field’s output can mean the difference between turning a profit and running into problems. This guide will go through all the best ways to deal with weeds and keep things growing smoothly.
How To Turn Off Weeds
For those who want an easy ride, there’s one surefire way to remove weeds forever. If you head into your game settings, you can toggle a setting that turns off weed growth. While it is a little bit of a cheat, newer players may benefit from turning weeds off during the early stages of the game.
Since this can be turned on and off at will, you can revisit the settings once you have a better understanding of the game, and turn weed growth back on. When it comes time to harvest your crops,if the field is free from weeds, then you’ll get 20% more yield. This is a substantial amount that canhelp to net the player some extra cash.
How To Prevent Weeds From Growing
Assuming weeds are turned on in the game, the best form of action is prevention. Preventing weeds from growing in the first place is by far the easiest solution. To do this, simply plow your fields.Taking good care of your fields is crucial to ensure that yourcrops grow in a healthy environment. Since plowing a field doesn’t take too long, it’s something that players should do before planting anything.
There are several plows that players can purchase:
How Long Does It Take For Weeds To Grow?
There are three different weed sizes in the game; small, medium, and large.Small weeds typically start growing within a couple of in-game hours. Dealing with the weeds early is best not just for crop yield, but also saves money on paying out for things like sprayers and herbicides. If you don’t get rid of weeds as soon as possible, they will spread across your whole field quickly.
Medium-sized weeds become visible not long after you start getting small weeds. These are more visible than smaller weeds, so they are much easier to spot. They also tend to grow in clumps, which makes taking care of them relatively easy.
Large weeds are hard to miss. Ideally, you want to avoid letting weeds get to the larger stage, as removing them can be a rather costly process at this point. But shortly after seeing medium-sized weeds, large weeds will start popping up. Think of these these as your last warning. If you don’t get rid of them soon, then you’ll run into problems when it comes time toharvest your crops.
How To Spot Weeds
Spotting weeds can be a bit tricky, especially ifyou are new to the world ofFarming Simulator.Thankfully, there’s an easy way to spot weeds.Open up the map, and scroll over from crop types to soil composition. This allows you to view all fields that need rolling and mulching, are withered, and more. One of the options is the option to view all fields that have weeds.
There are different colors that represent the size of the weeds. If a field has small weeds, it will show up as light green. However, if there are lots of big weeds, then the field will show up as dark green on the menu. If the weeds have been killed, they’ll show up as brown.
Another way of spotting weeds is to head into your field and look at the field info box at the bottom right side of your screen. This box contains all the important information about the field, including whether it has weeds growing in it.
Dealing With Weeds
Small Weeds
Weeders are great at removing small weeds.A weeder can’t be used on crops that are planted in rows, but for all other crops, a weeder will pick up any small weeds that are lurking within a field. There are a handful of weeders available in the store. A good rule of thumb is to start with the cheapest one first. Then, you can work your way up to the more expensive equipment as time goes on.
A hoe can also be used to pick up small weeds, as well as medium-sized weeds, bu more on that in the next entry. As for the weeders, the ones you can buy can be seen below:
Medium-Sized Weeds
As mentioned in the previous entry,a hoe can be used to pick up both small and medium-sized weeds.Unlike a weeder, a hoe can be used to remove weeds from fields that contain crops planted in rows, such as potatoes. In fact, if you are growing potatoes, then you’ll need to use a hoe to remove weeds. Otherwise, you may end up accidentally destroying your crops.
There’s only one hoe available in the store. It can be found in the weeders section. It’s called the Pottinger Rotocare V 12400 and can be purchased for $36,000.
Large Weeds
Big weeds require a big solution. To remove large weeds, you’ll need a sprayer, which can remove small, medium, and big weeds. Sprayers are more costly than hoes and weeders as you’ll need to purchase special chemicals (herbicides) to spray over your field. Also, there’s a yield penalty for applying chemicals to fields, so try to use a sprayer on large weeds only. You can sell machinery, so you canmake some money backon it in the future, should you decide to sell it. You can also rent machines which can help you to save quite a lot of money, especially if you don’t need to use the machine very often.
Herbicide can be purchased in the pallet tanks section of the store. This is located right at the bottom of the store page. There are two types of herbicide, and there isn’t much difference between them:
There are a couple of different types of sprayers. There are add-ons that can be taken across fields using a tractor. There are also entire vehicles whose primary purpose is to spray fields. The equipment and machinery available for spraying fields include:
Watch Out For Crop Destruction
Provided you haven’t turned off this feature in the game settings, you may accidentally destroy crops by driving over fields using ill-suited tires. Try using narrow tires to avoid running the risk of damaging your field as you drive through. If you go to the store, you can see the wheel setup prior to purchasing a piece of equipment. This is where you can see what type of tires a vehicle or piece of machinery is using.
