Farming Simulator 25is not just about farming. Reproducing animals and benefiting from their products is also anotherbig gameplay loop that is available to playersto increase their income and expand their operations beyond caring for crops.
Cows are the most popular option among all the available animals, as there is a high demand for their milk, and their price and reproduction rate are also efficient. That being said, it’s not easy to take care of cows, especially for those who are new to theFarming Simulatorseries. It might seem a bit complicated to figure out the required machinery and tools for maintaining a cow barn, but none of them are as complicated as feeding cows.
How To Feed Cows In Farming Simulator 25
There are a wide variety of things to feed the cows with. When building your cow barn, the game will ask if you want tocreate a meadow fieldbehind the barn’s pasture area. If you press yes, your cows will already have meadows to eat. So, they will be fed automatically.
However, meadows are base-tier food for cows with an effectiveness of only 40%. The best food for cows isTotal Mixed Ration (TMR), which comes with an effectiveness of 100%. However, TMR cannot be bought outright, and players must craft it on their own.
How To Craft TMR In Farming Simulator 25
The base ingredients for TMR areHayandSilage. Mixing these ingredients will give you TMR, but they cannot be mixed with bare hands. For this, the player must first purchase aForage Mixer. There are a wide variety of them available. Besides, aBale Spikeis also required for transporting Hay and Silage bales.
Bale Spike can be found underFront Loader Tools.
Finally, it all comes down to getting Hay and Silage themselves. They can be produced by farming, but that’s a topic for another day, as it requires even more machinery and time to produce them on your own.
For afaster progression, you’re able to purchase both Hay and Silage under theBales category in the Animals section of the shop. Also, you can add Straw and Mineral Feed to the mix to enrich the effectiveness, but they are optional.
Now, attach the Bale Spike to aLoader, pick up one unit of Hay and Silage bales, and then drop them inside the mixer. If you stand next to the mixer, you will realize that the ingredient bars for Hay and Silage are increasing. They both need to be in the green zone to deliver TMR.
you may also addStraw and Miner Feedbased on the required amount, but keep in mind that they will mess up the ratio of Hay and Silage, and you may need to buy and add more of them to the mix.
If the mixing ratio for ingredients is correct, you should see the Total Mixed Ration icon when carrying the mixer to the barn. Each cow barn comes with a food icon either inside or outside. Park the mixer next to the icon, and then switch to the dumping exit in front of the cows anddump the food.
If you check out the barn management screen, you will see that you have TMR. Silage or Hay on their own can also be used as food for cows, but still, they need to be powdered by the mixer.
