Summary
A talentedFallout: New Vegasplayer online has recreated the game’s Lucky 38 casino in Unreal Engine 5 with some spectacular results. ThisFallout: New Vegasartwork stays true to the original design while updating it with modern lighting technology.
It’s worth remembering thatFallout: New Vegasis 14 years old at this point. In the same breath,Fallout 4is nine years old. It’s understandable that games in the series are starting to look a little dated at this point, which is especially notable with the lack ofFallout 5. There have been a few different fan creations that imagine what Bethesda’s titles look like in other game engines - a while back, one gamer even imaginedwhatFallout 4looks like in Unreal Engine 5. It’s always interesting to see, and without a modernFalloutgame to compare them to, they offer an interesting glimpse as to how the series' style would look in high-fidelity graphics.
Redditor SynthLyn-X shared their complete Unreal Engine remake ofFallout: New Vegas' Lucky 38 casino, and the results are undoubtedly incredible. The entire casino captures the essence of the original, although the modern lighting certainly gives it a bit more vibrance in Unreal Engine 5. According to SynthLyn-X, “every model has been restored, textures have been upscaled and refined, and enhanced with Megascans assets to add rich detail and variety.” Right now, the images look incredible, but they’re also working on a video to show what the Lucky 38 remake looks like in motion.
Fallout: New Vegas' Lucky 38 in Unreal Engine 5
Although it seems like theentire world is switching to Unreal Engine 5at the moment, players shouldn’t expect to see the Lucky 38 in any games using the engine any time soon. While it’s an impressive piece of tech, Bethesda’sFalloutgames have always used the studio’s proprietary engine, which is tailor-made for the type of RPGs it produces. For now, gamers must make do with gorgeous renders like SynthLyn-X has created, imagining what it could look like.
Despite making its first and only series appearance inFallout: New Vegas, fans of the franchise may see it again sooner than they think. With theFalloutTV series heading to New Vegasfor the upcoming Season 2, it seems highly likely that the Strip will appear. If it does, then it would be shocking if the Lucky 38 didn’t make an appearance. The set designers have some job on their hands to match up to SynthLyn-X’s Unreal Engine 5 remake of the casino.
