Summary
An anime adaptation ofFarmagiahas been announced. This is game developed by Marvelous (currently owner ofStory of Seasons, previously known asHarvest Moon), with character designs byFairy TailcreatorHiro Mashima(for the game and the anime). It was announced in 2023 as “Project Magia”.
The game was released worldwide on Jul 12, 2025,for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC (Steam), with English and Japanese audio and multi-language interface and subtitles.
The anime isset to premiere on Januray 10, 2024, in Japan. The main staff who previously workedonFairy Tailincludeschief director Shinji Ishihara(directedFairy TailandEdens Zero) anddirector Toshihiko Sano(worked as animation director, storyboarder and more onFairy Tail). Toshizo Nemoto (Metallic Rouge) is in charge of the series composition. Check out the first trailer:
Farmagiatakes place in the land of Felicidad, which falls under the tiranic control of Glaza after the previous ruler death. This causes a rebellion movement, which main character Ten eventually joins. The player controls Ten and his party into twelve chapters, forming pacts with Elemental Spirits that aid them in battle.
The Japanese voice cast is reprising their roles in the anime, but since an international release is not yet confirmed, there is no information on any eventual English dub.
Fairy Tail, Edens Zero and More on Mashima’s Career
Hiro Mashima started his career with theBad Boys Songone-shot in August 1998, published while he was waiting for the results of a competition held by Kodansha’sWeekly Shōnen Magazine(which hisMagicianone-shot won). Then he started serializingRave Master, which ran in the same magazine from 1999 to 2005 and was adapted into anime.
His most known work isFairy Tail, serialized from 2006 to 2017, and adapted into a 328 episode anime, and one of the best-selling manga of all times, with over 70 million copies in print. Fairy Tail spawned several spin-offs, games, merchandise, theFairy Tail Zeroprequel and a sequel,Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest.
From 2018 to 2024,he serializedEdens Zero(in the same magazine, Mashima is the biggestWeekly Shōnen Magazinename today), which was also adapted into anime, with some episodes available on Netflix (season 1) and others on Crunchyroll (season 2).
He also serialized in 2019 the crossover seriesMashima’s Hero, withFairy Tail,Rave MasterandEdens Zerocharacters going on an adventure together.
Hiro Mashima Previous Game-Related Works
Although this is the first time Mashima draws artwork to an original game, he has already serialized theMonster Hunter OrageandDragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Agemanga. He also developed anEdens ZeroRPG Maker game titledRebecca to Kikai no Yōkan.He was an arcade part-time worker before becoming a mangaka, so his interest in games in not new for fans.
