If there’s one thing that’s been a hot topic in the gaming community as of late, it’s the successor to theNintendo Switch. Ever since Nintendo officially announced that it was working on the as-of-yet untitled console in May 2024, gamers have waited with bated breath for its reveal. Unfortunately, even though 2024 has almost come to an end, information on the upcoming system has been pretty scarce. While Nintendo did confirm that the Switch 2 would be unveiled sometime before June 26, 2025, and that it’d be backwards compatible with the currentNintendo Switch, it has yet to share specific details about the console. Its price, name, appearance, specifications, and release date are still a complete mystery.

Many industry commentators initially believed that the Switch 2 would be revealed in late 2024, butafter Nintendo’s recent earnings call, the majority of them now think that it’ll be announced in early 2025 instead. If their prediction does hold up, then fans will have to wait at least a few more months until the system gets unveiled, though it’s anyone’s guess when that will happen. Despite the uncertainty surrounding its impending announcement, several games have already been confirmed for the Switch 2. Nintendo itself has yet to reveal any titles for the Nintendo Switch’s successor, of course, but a couple of third-party developers have hinted at their intent to support the unannounced console.
