The fate of MuppetVision has been uncertain for quite some time, especially since theD23 announcements over the summerthatMonsters Inc.would be coming to Hollywood Studios. Concept art revealed at the event seemed to show Monstropolis taking over the area that Muppets Courtyard currently occupies.
Disney just confirmed that the rumors are true on theDisney Parks Blog, andMonsters Inc.will be replacing the Muppets Courtyard and MuppetVision 3D attraction. The Monsters Inc. ride will recreate the iconic door vault scene and will be a “suspended ride,” while the area will also bring new shops and dining experiences for guests. In addition, the Monsters Inc. land will use the MuppetVision 3D theater for a brand-new theater show featuring some of Monstropolis’s most popular monsters.

However, The Muppets will be relocated to a different ride in Hollywood Studios, taking over the controversial Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith. The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith has been the source of overhaul rumors for years, with demands renewed earlier this yearafter a lengthy refurbishment period. The Muppets have been the most popular choice to replace Aerosmith with many fans wondering if the success of the now-canceledMuppets Mayhemseries last year would lead to more Muppets inclusion throughout the parks.
