For over seven years,Destiny 2has evolved and expanded its entertainment prowess exponentially over the years, particularly in terms of collaborations with other companies and properties. This history ofDestiny 2crossovers first began in 2022 with skins of iconic Guardians appearing inFortniteand armor sets inspired by Drift, Black Knight, and Omega brought over to the MMO. Since then,Destiny 2has gone to crossover withFall Guys,Assassin’s Creed,God of War,Horizon,Ghost of Tsushima,The Last of Us,The Witcher,Mass Effect, andFor Honor. Bungie is continuing this crossover trend withinDestiny 2’s Revenant Act 2 with an upcoming collaboration with Capcom’sStreet Fighterfranchise on November 19.

Every Feature of Destiny 2’s Street Fighter Crossover

In a recentDestiny 2developer livestream, Bungie’s Global Community Lead Dylan Gafner (30:27) announced multiple newStreet Fightercosmetics coming to the MMO as a tie-in with the latestStreet Fightergame,Street Fighter 6. The first items revealed were a set of three new shells for Guardian’s Ghosts, including a shell based on Ryu, a shell based on Chun-Li, and a shell based on Cammy. Gafner then showcased twoGuardians wearing a green helmet ornament based on Blanka. The Blanka hamlet ornament can be worn by all three classes of Guardians, including Hunters, Titans, and Warlocks.

Several newStreet Fighter-inspired holographic emotes will be added toDestiny 2as well. One emote, based on bonusStreet Fighterstages where players typically beat up cars, has a Guardian beat up a soda vending machine instead, complete with a closing shoryuken uppercut. Another emote has two Guardians reenact a fight between Ryu and Blanka, including holographic health bars that appear above each Guardian. Three newStreet Fighter-themed legendary finishers will be added toDestiny 2, including the iconic hadoken, lightning kick, and spinning bird kick. WhileDestiny 2marketing claims that moreStreet Fighter-themed cosmetics will be released on November 19th, no otherStreet Fighterattire or content has been revealed yet.

Destiny 2’s Other Revenant Act 2 Crossover

On top of all theStreet Fighter-inspired cosmetics coming toDestiny 2, Gafner announced that the MMO will cross over with another popular aesthetic as a part of Revenant Act 2: Japanese Doki Doki styles. While some gamers may have thought this was a collaboration with the popular psychological horror visual novel gameDoki Doki Literature Club!, Gafner nor the cosmetics themselves made no connection to the 2017 game. Instead, several newHunter, Titan, and Warlock ornaments based on typical Doki Doki school uniforms, dresses, skirts, and bows will be made available. Additionally, Guardians will be able to acquire fun emotes such as a now iconic dance, first originating from the intro sequence of the 2003 animePopotan.

The Potential Impact of Destiny 2’s Street Fighter Collab

OverStreet Fighter 6’s 17-month-long lifespan, the 2D fighting game has crossed over with numerous games, books, and television series. This first began in August 2023, whenStreet Fighter 6collaborated withTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtlesand allowed players to purchase various TMNT-themed themed costumes, accessories, emotes, and stamps. However, unlikeInjustice 2, the four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo, were not playable inStreet Fighter 6. Since then,Street Fighter 6has crossovered with fellow Capcom gamesFinal FightandMega Man, as well as the manga and anime seriesSpy X Family.

There currently aren’t plans to incorporateDestiny 2elements inStreet fighter 6. However, Bungie and Capcom could work together to include some cosmetics based on popular Guardians in the fighting game. Similar to the crossovers withFortnite,For Honor, andAssassin’s Creed Valhalla, Bungie could allow Capcom to include costumes of Zavala, Ikora Rey, Cayde-6, Saint-14, Lord Shaxx, and the Exo Stranger inStreet Fighter 6. If the current collaboration between the two games proves to be popular, Capcom could incorporate more armor based oniconicStreet Fighterheroes and villainsin a futureDestiny 2event, such as Guile, Ken, M. Bison, and Gill.

WhileStreet Fighter 5collaborated with multiple franchises,Destiny 1did not cross over with any other pop culture franchises.
