As the First Dragonborn in recorded history, Miraak is most easily identified by his distinctive Dragon Priest Mask. Unlike otherSkyrimDragon Priest Masks, Miraak’s mask has a face that’s almost squid-like, with tentacle-shaped parts on the jaw. It’s here that BaxxBreaker employed the Flayer’s Dominion Hood, a Mind Flayer-themed cosmetic ornament from theDestiny 2Dungeons & Dragonscrossover pack. Colored by the bronzed Ancient Wisdom Shader, the mask looks like a more stylized interpretation of the one Miraak wears when players confront him on the island of Solstheim.
Players praised BaxxBreaker’s work, with a few even gaining new appreciation forSkyrimthanks to the costume’s squid-like appearance. Though Miraak’s actual Dragon Priest Mask is more subtle, its stylized look hints at the connection between Miraak and theDaedric Prince Hermaeus Mora. It was Mora who helped Miraak learn to bend dragons to his will and inspired him to use his Dragonborn powers to attempt to conquer the world. Mora is often is often depicted as a mysterious aquatic being or an amalgam of squid and crab and other creatures associated with Lovecraftian Mythos and eldritch horror, making the squid-facedDestiny 2hood a perfect fit.
