Summary
A creativeDestiny 2player has managed to extend the Vanguard’s recruiting efforts all the way to the Hundred-Acre Wood, recruiting classic character Winnie the Pooh to the ranks of the Guardians with a new customized costume. The new costume takes advantage of a set of themedDestiny 2cosmetic parts, further expanding the creative potential embodied in the game’s armor customization system.
One of the most distinctive parts ofDestiny 2is its unique, easily identified sci-fi aesthetic. Thanks in part to the skill demonstrated by developer Bungie’s stable of artists, the game cultivates a visual style that is both unique and still able to cover a wide range of motifs. Even among the default styles,Destinyblends in everything from high-tech power armor reminiscent of theHaloseries to high fantasy-style outfits befitting some of the game’s more supernatural foes, like the Hive and thenew Dread faction fromThe Final Shape.
The sheer number of available parts added toDestiny 2over the years has allowed players to adapt a range of designs into new “cosplay” that bring their favorite characters into the game. Such was the case with a Winnie the Pooh costume from Reddit user ORBED_CORB, who took advantage of thenewDestiny 2Doki Doki armor setto bring the beloved children’s character to life in-game.
Destiny 2 Costume Turns a Fox Mask Into a Winnie the Pooh Bear
Destiny 2 Winnie the Pooh Costume Parts (Titan)
Normally, the Doki DokiDestinyTitan helmet that serves as the centerpiece of the Winnie the Pooh costume is easier to see as a mask based on a fox. After all, the Doki Doki cosmetic pack is in part anime-inspired, and fox masks are a commonly seen element in many such works. One player even managed to use the helm for aDestiny 2Fox McCloudcostume setup. However, thanks to coloration from the bright yellow Bumblebee shader, creator ORBED_CORB managed to evoke Winnie the Pooh’s bright, single-shade coloration. The simple design of the Solstice Plate with a simply shaded red torso completed the look, making a Titan Guardian look to all the world like a cuddly yellowish bear wearing a simple red shirt.
Players praised the design, with some joking that the heavily militarized look of this “new Pooh” represented a new front in the recent broadening of Winnie the Pooh adaptations. The entry of Winnie the Pooh and hundreds of other works into the public domain earlier this year prompted the creation of all manner of new adaptations outside children-targeted work, including aWinnie the Pooh horror cinematic universe.
