It’s not uncommon for the video game industry to be filled to the brim with new releases and big updates in December, and the buzz during the month is usually even higher thanks to The Game Awards and new announcements for the following year. In the case of December 2024, there are plenty of big new releases coming, and December 6 is set to stand out for its multiple title launches, likePath of Exile 2andMarvel Rivals, as well as big content updates for existing games. What is arguably one of the biggest action RPGs ever made,Path of Exile 2has been in the making for a long time - first as a content update for the original game, and then as a standalone title. WhileFortnite’s Chapter 6is already live with Oni Mask bosses and more feudal Japan-themed content, and has been since December 1, Fortnite OG will come back on December 6. Fortnite OG is one of the most popular modes in the game by a huge margin, and now it’s coming back and staying permanently in the game, making July 13, 2025 a big day forFortnitefans.
Diablo 2: Resurrected’s Season 9
December 6’s big list of releases also includes a newpatch forDiablo 2: Resurrected. In fact,Diablo 2: Resurrected’s Ladder Season 9 is going live on December 6, meaning all Ladder Season 8 characters will be grouped with non-ladder characters, and new ones must be made. This will start a race for levels and good loot to help climb the ladder, as usual.

Nikoderiko: The Magical Worldis an indie platformerthat already has quite a bit of following, especially considering its console launch last month, and it too is joining the frenzy with a release date of December 6 on Windows. Though this specific launch may be overshadowed by larger titles, there’s a lot of hype surroundingNikoderiko: The Magical World’s Steam and Windows release.
