As is the case with all popular live-service experiences, this sustained success is largely driven by the fact thatDead by Daylightcontinues receiving new contenton a regular basis, roughly once every three months.
This trend has now continued with theDead by Daylight:Doomed CourseChapter, which rolled out on Thursday, November 28. The Thanksgiving update introduces a new Killer and Survivor in the form of The Houndmaster and Taurie Cain, respectively. True to her name, The Houndmaster, Portia Maye, has a bloodthirsty canine that can do her bidding. As such, she’s the game’s first-ever Killer with an AI-controlled minion. Her black hound can track, chase, and pin down Survivors, making it an effective tool for consistently applying pressure.
The hound’s command scheme is fairly straightforward, with its Chase ability being used to both direct it to charge and change direction, depending on whether it’s already charging. Meanwhile, the Search ability reveals any Survivors caught in its gradually widening radius, and even gives The Houndmaster a movement speed boost if she’s following in the hound’s footsteps. Overall, Portia Maye serves as a distinct addition to the game’s roster of Killers that shakes upDead by Daylight’s cat-and-mouse gameplay loopwith some new mechanics.
Meanwhile, Behaviour Interactive describes Taurie Cain as “the morally darkest Survivor” it ever created. Her backstory revolves around failing a wicked sect called the Black Talon after refusing to take an innocent person’s life, which leaves her in quite a predicament.Taurie Cain comes with threeDead by Daylightcharacter perks: Shoulder The Burden, Clean Break, and Invocation: Treacherous Crows. Most of them are designed around the concept of sacrifice, allowing her to help other survivors while incurring some sort of penalty, like the Injured and Broken status effects.
Dead by Daylight: Doomed Courseis priced at $7.99. The new DLC comes with an exclusive Killer item in the form of the Titanium Skull, as well as a unique Survivor cosmetic called the Gold Tier. Based on Behaviour Interactive’s track record, the nextDead by Daylightchapter is likely to arrive around late February or early March 2025.
