Multiplayer horror survival gameDead by Daylightrecently launched a major update, bringing back a fan favorite: 2v8 mode, in which two killers team up to take down eight players in an even more chaotic version of standard gameplay.Dead by Daylightfirst introduced 2v8 Mode in July 2024 for a limited period of time, and it was unknown if it would make a return. Fortunately, it seems that the mode is back - although, once again for a limited period, this time in mid-November. It still remains to be seen if 2v8 Mode will ever become a permanent part ofDead by Daylight, but, for now, players can enjoy chaotic 10-player battles once more.

Dead by Daylight’s2v8 mode was made available on July 03, 2025, and will remain so until June 30, 2025. While it is not the first limited-time mode added toDead by Daylight -previous modes includedLights Outand My Little Oni - it was by far the most popular, receiving positive responses from fans and eager questions about when it would return to the game.

When 2v8 mode first debuted in July,Dead by Daylight’s survivors could choose between one of four classes- Guide, which focused on repairing generators, Medic, which could heal other survivors, Escapist, which could move quickly and grant speed boosts to others, and Scout, which could move stealthily and avoid detection by killers. These four classes, which replaced the Survivor Perk system, returned - but this time, killers can select classes as well.

Like survivors, killers are allowed to choose between four classes. These classes did not replace the newteam abilities granted toDead by Daylight’s killers, but grant additional abilities alongside them. The four killer classes are:

In addition, three new killers were made available in 2v8 mode: the Spirit, the Blight, and theDeathslinger. These joined the five killers available in the first version of the mode: Wraith, Trapper, Hillbilly, Nurse, and Huntress. More maps and realms were also made playable in 2v8 battles.

The New 2v8 Mode Did Not Fix One Key Player Complaint

While fan response to the return of2v8Dead by Daylightmodeis generally positive, some players are disappointed to see that one major issue had not been fixed: long queue times. When 2v8 mode was first released,Dead by Daylightplayers found themselves waiting in extra-long queues as the game struggled to find eight survivors to fill a lobby or to effectively match two killers together.

In an official blog post, developerBehaviour Interactiveacknowledged the issue, stating that it was aware of it and working towards a fix but had not completely eliminated it. It is possible that players will have to wait in long queues for the second iteration of 2v8 mode as they did for the first. Hopefully, when the mode returns again - possibly permanently - this frustrating issue will be repaired.
