Summary
Monster Hunterhas a vast range of beasts, ranging from small, fairly weak creatures to large colossal Elder Dragons. Some of these monsters are exceedingly rare, featured in only a few games, and others are much more common, such as the Rathalos and Rathian, which are present in most titles.
One type of monster is the first-class monster, otherwise known as the black dragon. These Elder Dragons are the most secretive, powerful, andrare in the series. First-class monsters are at the apex of the food chain in theMonster Huntergames, giving hunters the biggest challenge when out on the field. Only a handful of hunters have fought these mighty dragons, as they are forbidden.

The final form ofMonster Hunter: Worldboss Xeno’jiiva, Safi’jiiva, is its lesser form but with the refinement of adulthood, being able to control its powers. The creature absorbs other elder dragons to strengthen its resolve, flattening hunters with its enormous energy blasts.
It is said that Safi’jiiva can change entire ecosystems through its absorption capabilities, using its finisher move known as “Sapphire of the Emperor” to decimate anyone who stands in its way. The creature is also said to be far more intelligent than otherElder Dragons, with a cunning strategy to dominate at all odds.

Not much is known about the first-class monster known as Merphistophelin. Introduced inMonster Hunter: Online, Merphistophelin can use more than one element. Its base form wields both dragon and fire, while its elemental form goes one step further with the ability to use all elements.
Elemental Merphistophelin is the strongest of the two variants, with control over thunder, water, ice, fire, and dragon. In this form, Merphistophelin seems to have stable control but lacks the raw power of its Elder Dragon brother, Alatreon, who also controls all the elements.

Dire Miralis is a walking volcano of epic proportions. A beast of massive size and fire, Dire Miralis is known to sink islands and evaporate the oceans due to its significant strength. Fable says this dragon could be the devil reincarnated, effortlessly trying to plunge the world into fire and ruin.
While this Elder Dragon is very strong, it lacks the speed and agility of its other black dragon counterparts, placing it slightly behind the other entries on this list.

Alatreon, known as the Blazing Black Dragon, is so powerful that people dare utter its name. With the ability to controlall the elements, such as thunder, water, dragon, and ice, Alatreon is exceptionally powerful.
The dragon has the power of multiple Elder dragons combined, such as Teostra, Velkhana, and Vaal Hazak, using their elements to destroy entire ecosystems. Despite this, its powers are erratic and lack control in battle. Alatreon is limited in strength without refinement compared to other black dragons, such as Fatalis.

The true black dragon, Fatalis is arguablyMonster Hunter’s most powerful creature. Resembling a dragon from European folklore, Fatalis is said to be able to destroy entire civilizations and species overnight. Fatalis has three forms: its normal variation, Crimson Fatalis, and White Fatalis.
These creatures are considered ancient and nearly impossible to defeat. Thestrongest of all its variantsis White Fatalis - an Elder Dragon of near untameable power, said to be the creator of all Elder Dragons, and so powerful that it can controlmagic lightningto make hunters disappear from existence.
Frozen Seraphim

Disufiroa is the strongest first-class monster, using its ability Frozen Seraphim to transform the world with its very touch. This creature can easily destroy the world, living in a location known as the “World’s End” - a region twisted into anapocalyptic wastelanddue to its extreme power and presence.
This beast can destroy its surroundings by simply existing in its environment, making it the strongest first-class monster and creature in the series, overpowering the likes of Fatalis.
