As the studio looks to the future and the game’s proposed sequel, fans continue to spend countless hours in Night City. Unfortunately, the devs have some bad news for those eager to see some improvements to the game on the newest hardware.
In a new Twitter post, CD Projekt Red confirmed that the studio has no plans for a PlayStation 5 Pro patch forCyberpunk 2077. As more and more popular titles have been confirmed to be enhanced for the recently released console, fans of the RPG have been increasingly vocal about potential upgrades for the game, such as ray tracing and new graphical modes. WhileCyberpunk 2077reportedly sees some improvements solely due to thePS5 Pro’s improved specs, players shouldn’t expect any dedicated changes to the action RPG anytime soon.
Cyberpunk 2077 Won’t Get a PlayStation 5 Pro Update
In May 2024, it was announced thatCyberpunk 2077had officially ended development, with no employees working on the title in any capacity. FollowingCyberpunk’s incredible redemption arc, CD Projekt Red has moved on toThe Witcher 4, which was officially confirmed in 2022. The title will be the first title in a multi-game saga, and over 400 employees are said to be working on the next game in the fantasy RPG series. In addition,Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel, codenamed “Project Orion,” was also announced in 2022, though details remain scarce.
WhileCyberpunkisn’t slated for any PS5 Pro upgrades, many beloved PS5 games are seeing big boosts on the new console, fromBaldur’s Gate 3toLies of P. Released on November 7 for a hefty $700, the PlayStation 5 Pro features an upgraded GPU, AI-driven upscaling, and advanced ray tracing capabilities, promising smoother frame rates and higher fidelity graphics. Over 50 games were announced to be PS5 Pro Enhanced ahead of the system’s release, with another 8,500 backward compatible PS4 games also seeing improved performance thanks toPS5 Pro Game Boost.
