Summary

As the calendar moves closer to 2025, the picture of just what Kevin Feige has planned for the MCU is coming more into focus. There’s been lots of talk about several new characters that will be making appearances in movies and television shows. There’s been talk or even trailers how Marvel is handling returning characters like Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes. And there have been whispers about how and especially if characters likeThe Scarlet Witchwill make their returns to theMCU.

The last time Wanda Maximoff was seen on screen, she was busy wreaking havoc with time and space inDoctorStrange’s Multiverse of Madness.Because she had taken a full heel turn, Doctor Strange had to kill herto stop her from killing others. So far, there hasn’t been a character that’s been officially killed and brought back (unless Vision coming back as a rebooted soulless version counts) so should Wanda actually make her return, it would be a first of sorts for the MCU. Of course, when talking about the kind of character that could come back from death, the Scarlet Witch certainly fits that bill. Magic being the thing that brought back a version of Vision, as well as creating children out of thin air; it seems likely that sooner or later the Scarlet Witch will be back. And there’s more and more evidence surfacing every day that Marvel absolutely has a plan for how and when.

Marvel Keeps Hinting At Scarlet Witch’s Return To The MCU

The first time there has been talk on screen of Wanda coming back from the dead was when whispers of MCU’s plan for her started circulating around social media.WhenAgatha All Alongaired, there was quite a bit of mention of the character, which is hardly surprising. After all, Agatha Harkness faced Wanda inWandavisionand lost that fight, being stuck in character in small-town New Jersey.

However, the Scarlet Witch was also mentioned as someone who even the witches in the story didn’t really believe was dead for certain. Or at least they believed there was a chance she could eventually make a return. Considering those were all characters that knew existing for hundreds of years was possible, it was again, not unheard of that they might think Wanda could find her way back from the land of the dead. However, more than the characters in the show discussingwhether the Scarlet Witch was dead, it was how Marvel instructed the cast and writersto refer to her.

It came out afterAgatha All Alongaired that the actors and writers were all instructed torefer to Wanda as “gone"but they never really referred to her as dead. The fact that these were instructions, rather than a choice by the writers carries weight. It hints that there are plans and that sooner or later the Scarlet Witch will be back.

Kevin Feige Offers More Hints

MCU chief Kevin Feige recently appeared at D23 in Brazil this fall and talked about a number of projects and potential projects includingMiles Morales and how the MCUis changing the way it’s going to handle Blade. During that appearance, it should come as no surprise that he also mentioned the Scarlet Witch. And while he didn’t say that “yes, Wanda is coming back,” he certainlydidn’t close the dooron the character eventually coming back from where she’s gone.

“We had Agatha All Along on Disney+ just now, and that series was great for us. Since then, Many questions have remained in fans’ minds about Wanda… So, all I can say is we are excited to find out when and how Scarlet Witch can return.”

There are really two ways to take those comments. The first is that Feige doesn’t want to say for certain that the Scarlet Witch is gone for good, especially sinceVisionquestis right aroundthe corner for Disney+. He’s well aware that the idea of Wanda returning for that show would get quite a few eyeballs of Marvel fans on the show. The other way to take it is that the MCU does indeed have something in the works. And there’s plenty of places and ideas where she could make a return.

The Return of Scarlet Witch To The MCU

Most recently talk sparked up again that the Scarlet Witch willmake her return to the MCUin a new solo movie. Just when that film might air is still very much up in the air. But there is a chance that it could be sooner than people expect. Or it could mean that her return is much farther off than anyone realized.

There has also been plenty of talk and whispers thatAvengers: Doomsdaymight be the time when she finally shows up again. It could be thatshe’ll aid Doctor Doomin his battle against whoever makes up the Avengers in this new MCU. Or she could finally have seen the error of her ways and be a good guy again.

Or she could finally have seen the error of her ways and be a good guy again.

What is becoming clearer and clearer is that the evidence is mounting. TheScarlet Witchwill come back to the MCU at some point. It’s just a matter of when and how.
