It was officially confirmed that theClassroom of the Elitelight novel series will have a sequel. The novel series has been adapted into anime, available to stream onCrunchyroll.
Classroom of the Elite, also known by the Japanese nicknameYojitsu, is apsychological thriller novel seriespenned by Shogo Kinugasa and illustrated by Shunsaku Tomose. The first series was published from 2015 to 2019 under Kadokawa’s MF Bunko imprint, with 11 volumes. Then, a sequel,Classroom of the Elite: Year 2, started running in 2020, with 14 volumes so far.
The new announcementannounces a third series,Classroom of the Elite: Year 3, which should be the last one considering it will be the last school year of the characters. It is not clear whenYear 2will end, nor whenYear 3will begin to be published.

What is the story about?
InClassroom of the Elite, there is a government-funded school created to instruct promising students that will eventually lead Japan. In this setting, main character Kiyotaka Ayanokoji, a quiet boy who rather keeps his distance from other people, is extremely intelligent. However, he is in Class-D, the class of the"inferior" and “defective” students. But things begin to change after he meets Suzune Horikita and Kikyo Kushida. His new life is not necessarily good for his mental health.
It is one of the most successful light novel series in Japan nowadays, as it has been featured in Oricon’s top light novel yearly charts at least in the last two years. The series spawnedanime and manga adaptationsand spinoffs.
The first anime season aired in 2017, produced by studio Lerche and directed bySeiji KishiandHiroyuki Hashimoto. The second season came only in 2022. The production remained in studio Lerche, but there were major changes to the main staff. Thethird season debuted in 2024, and a fourth season has been announced, with no further details so far. The animes sums up a total of 38 episodes so far.
The Classroom of the Elitelight novels are published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment. All three anime seasons are available to stream on Crunchyroll, both subbed and dubbed.
