In this action RPG, players take on the role of a feline privateer, known in-game as a “purrivateer,” tasked with finding the Northern Star, a treasure said to grant wishes to its holder. TheCat Questseries is renowned for its irreverent humor and endless cat-themed puns. The biggest highlight of the second game was the addition of multiplayer mode, which is whyCat Quest 3brought back local co-opon all platforms.
The newCat Quest 3update adds five new side quests featuring fresh characters and familiar mysteries, along with four new dungeons filled with puzzles, standalone stories, and surprises. Players will also face three new boss battles and gain access to a slew of new equipment. While the update didn’t addnew areas toCat Quest 3, the additional quests and dungeons are integrated into existing ones, such as the Purvanna region and Furggy Island.
This marks the first free update for the game. Forthe future ofCat Quest 3, Desmond Wong, CEO of Gentlebros, confirmed that the RPG will receive an update scheduled for early next year, introducing the “Mew Game” mode. A beloved feature of theCat Questseries, the Mew Game allows players to start a new playthrough with specific modifiers, such as disabling level-ups or restricting the use of armor and weapons.
The third game significantly expanded upon the gameplay of its predecessors.The pirate theme inCat Quest 3introduced naval exploration and battles, along with a new enemy type, the rats. According to Gentlebros, the decision to include rats was inspired by the “pi-rats” pun. Naturally, as a pirate game, it also features a robust maritime system with ships to sail the seas.
Cat Quest 3is available on PS5, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Gentlebros has also announced that it is working onCat Quest 4, though it cautioned fans not to expect updates anytime soon. Wong said he has aroadmap for nineCat Questgamesbecause cats have nine lives. The studio plans to keep releasing theCat Questseries as long as players remain satisfied.
