Captain America: Brave New World Has The Trick To Beating Hulk

Summary

WhenCaptain America: Brave New Worldhits theaters in February, it will officially turn the page on the MCU and kickstart the next phase. Sam Wilson will play the newCaptain America. Harrison Ford plays the new Thunderbolt Ross, and the Red Hulk, and the country is facing some new enemies that have no qualms about taking about the federal government head-on.

All of that is brand new for this next phase of the MCU and as the trailers have shown, the new Captain Americaand the new Hulkare going to at some point, go head-to-head. Just how and why is still an open question but considering that Sam doesn’t have the super strength that his mentor and the man who carried the shield before him had, when the two adversaries do face off it would certainly seem as though Ross easily has the upper hand. However, the MCU has already shown one of the ways in which the new Captain America could have any chance at all, of fighting off and beating, this new, in some ways more powerful, Hulk.

Captain America Comes Armed To The Red Hulk Fight

As it turns out, this is hardly the first time that Sam Wilson and several other heroes in the MCU have had to fight a Hulk. Granted, it’s usuallyBruce Banner and his Green Hulk, but the fact of the matter is that Captain America, even the new Captain America has seen how to fight someone who is as powerful as Thunderbolt Ross.

The fact that Sam Wilson doesn’t have the power and the strength of the original Cap might even come into play in a way where he’s the beneficiary. It’s clear that Sam is leaning on more tech than Steve Rogers did, because he doesn’t have the Super Soldier serum he likely has the weapons at his disposal totake on the Red Hulkshould he need them.

Just how the new Captain America willtake on the Red Hulkwas telegraphed way back when the Avengers did battle with Ultron. However, it wasn’t the super intelligent android that offered up the answer. Rather it was Tony Stark who had been working on a way to stop Banner’s Hulk should he ever go rogue and start to go on a rampage.

The Hulk Buster armor was a bit hit or miss in just how good it worked. But it’s clear that when Tony called that armor down, he had a fighting chance against the Hulk. He was able to actually drive Banner to the ground and repeatedly wailed on him. And while the fight between Hulk and Iron Man was more or less a draw, that is newsworthy enough. It shows that armor has the kind of power that couldstand up against the Red Hulkas well, especially since Ross is presumably new to his powers and doesn’t even know all the things he can do or how powerful he is.

It’s not clear just how much of Ross is going to stay in the mind ofRed Hulk inCaptain America: Brave New World. In the comics, he eventually becomes someone who can think almost as though he were normal, but with a lot more muscles and a rather odd skin tone. It’s possible that he’ll be a more feral version of the character, but if he retains some of Ross’s intellect that might actually help Sam when he goes into the fight. If it’s the case that Ross can still think to any real degree, keeping him at bay with the Hulk Buster armor might be all that Sam and the new Falcon need.

It’s also worth pointing out that the Hulk Buster armor took on plenty of big bads throughout the Avengers movies. In fact, when Banner could no longer control his transformations, or rather the Hulk refused to come out, he used it to fight Thanos and his crew.And the Hulk Buster armorwas key in the final fight duringAvengers: End Game.

It’s also possible in thischapter of the MCUthat the armor has been improved and strengthened. After all, Banner is still around and he knows better than anyone what would happen if he ever reverted to the rage monster he once was. It stands to reason that Banner would work on the armor in Tony’s absence and do all he could to make sure it could take him down should he ever not be smart Hulk anymore. With Sam now working for the government directly and the Avengers seemingly no longer being the people in charge, Sam would almost certainly have access to that kind of tech. It stands to reason that theCaptain America: Brave New Worldaudience will get to see it in action. Either operated by Sam or Falcon.
