Call of Duty: Warzonedeveloper Raven Software has temporarily removed Rebirth Island, a fan-favorite Resurgence map, from the game’s rotation just hours after it made its triumphant return. WhileBlack Ops 6andWarzoneSeason 1 brought with it a new Resurgence map known as Area 99, fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of Rebirth Island, only for it to be removed within a matter of hours.
As the end ofModern Warfare 3approached, Raven Software made somecontroversial changes toWarzone’s playlistsin order to prepare for the launch ofBlack Ops 6. With Season 1 officially kicking off on November 14, fans were eager to check out all of the new playlists and, most importantly, the game’s brand-new Resurgence map, Area 99. This small, fast-paced map was inspired by the popular multiplayer map, Nuketown. But with a brand-new omnimovement system and a plethora ofBlack Ops 6weapons at players' arsenal, fans were eager to see Rebirth Island make a return.
Warzone Removes Rebirth Island Just Hours After Its Return
Less than one week after the launch of Season 1,Rebirth Island returned toWarzoneon November 18 with a fresh playlist update. However, just a few hours later, developer Raven Software confirmed it would be temporarily removing the map from rotation due to “map-specific issues.” Over on the officialCall of DutyUpdates Twitter account, the studio said, “We’ve removed Rebirth Island from the playlist while we investigate map-specific issues.” They then noted that all other maps and modes will remain unaffected by the issue, with more updates to come when the studio is ready.
As expected, fans were left livid by the removal of Rebirth Island. In response to the post, Twitter userObey Ostersaid, “This is the worst launch ofWarzoneever,” whileWavyssaid, “It’s hilarious that you guys can’t even get it right for a map that’s existed for almost 4 years, re-released now for the 3rd time.” Unfortunately, this also isn’t the only issue that has plagued the popular Battle Royale since the launch of Season 1. On November 15, Raven Software confirmed it wasinvestigating some serious audio issues inWarzoneafter fans complained that they were unable to hear enemy footsteps, while others were experiencing muffled audio.
It’s currently unclear how long it will be until Rebirth Island returns, meaning fans will have to play eitherWarzone’s new Area 99 Resurgence mapor the large-scale Battle Royale map, Urzikstan, in the interim. The latter of which also led to disappointment earlier this month, as Activision confirmed shortly before the launch of Season 1 that the map would be a version from the early seasons ofModern Warfare 3. This meant no accessible bunkers, no Superstore point of interest, and an in-tact Power Plant.
