Black Ops 6 Fans Angered Over New BlackCell Loyalty Bonus
While there will be plenty of new content forCall of Dutyplayers to check out later this week, fans have made it clear that they’re not happy withBlack Ops 6’s new loyalty XP bonus for BlackCell owners. Revealed as part of the Season 1 Reloaded announcement, Activision confirmed that players who continue to purchase the BlackCell Battle Pass will receive further XP bonuses with each passing season. This means that anybody who purchases BlackCell every season will eventually have a 50% XP boost by the beginning of Season 6, with an increase of 10% for every season beginning from Season 2. As expected, the loyalty bonus hasn’t gone down well with fans, as some are calling it “disgusting” and “disrespectful.”
Call of Duty’s controversial BlackCell Battle Passwas first introduced in 2022’sModern Warfare 2, offering a premium version of the existing paid Battle Pass with new cosmetic items for players to get their hands on. The catch, however, was that it could not be purchased with COD Points, meaning fans were forced to spend $29.99 USD on top of the existing cost of the standard Battle Pass. While the majority of fans have been against BlackCell for the past couple of years, it hasn’t stopped Activision from attempting to entice players with new features.
Reddit userDisaronnoSwigssaid they “hope people catch on soon and stop spending money on stuff that gives you nothing of value in return,” while Twitter userDan Lawtonbelieves the new loyalty bonus is “pay to win.” Plenty of other users have also pointed out that anybody dedicated enough to purchase the BlackCell for 6 seasons likely won’t need an XP boost by Season 2 or 3, making the feature redundant for many.
Prior to the new XP loyalty bonus, Activision made another attempt at getting players to purchase the BlackCell Battle Pass by offering a bonus skin for an already paid store bundle.Black Ops 6players were angered with the new Replacer bundleafter Activision revealed that BlackCell owners would receive a “bonus skin” when purchasing the bundle, but anybody who did not own BlackCell before purchasing the bundle would only receive one skin.
