Summary

Bosch: Legacywill air its third and final season in March 2025, unless Amazon does a U-Turn and gives the fans what they want: more Harry Bosch. The SaveBosch: Legacypetition is in full swing, with over 13,000 fans voting to give Harry Bosch more solo stories. One of the key elements fans will miss from the show is the ex LAPD detective’s swanky apartment overlooking the city of Los Angeles. However, during the first season ofBosch: Legacy, Bosch’s lair was notably absent for the majority of the season.

Harry Bosch’s home is very much a character of its own inBoschandBosch: Legacy. It’s the place where Bosch gathers his thoughts on the cases he’s working on, and for the most part, he feels safest due to the one way in, and one way out layout of the apartment. Having said that, many criminals have broken in to snoop around and have tried to kill Bosch, but he’s always come out on top in these dangerous situations. So,why was Harry Bosch separated from his home inBosch: Legacyseason 1?

Harry Boschbought his Hollywood Hills apartment that overlooks the city of Angels with a payout from a film company for his work as a technical advisor on a miniseries based on one of the cases he solved. It was a good way to explain how the luxurious abode came to be in his possession, despite being on an LAPD detective’s salary. The home was a mainstay throughoutthe originalBoschseries, but whenBosch: Legacywas launched in 2022,Harry Bosch was forced to leave his home after an earthquake rocked the structure of it, and it was red tagged by a city inspector.

Bosch was not only forced to adapt to his new life as a private investigator inBosch: Legacy, but he was also now without the place where he lays his head. Bosch took up temporary residence in his office, often sleeping on the couch with his pet dog,Coltrane, while the repairs were carried out. Fans were just as disappointed not to see Bosch in his home and surveying the Los Angeles area from his balcony, while listening to classic jazz music. However,Bosch: Legacyseason 2saw Harry Bosch back where he belongs, and despite the repairs not being complete, he ripped the red tag off and fixed the rest himself and moved back in.

Taking Bosch Away From His Apartment Was A Creative Choice And It Worked For The Most Part

The decision to take Harry Bosch away from his home was a creative choice, andTitus Welliverexplained the reasons behind it in aninterview with TVLineto promote the launch ofBosch: Legacy back in 2022:

Be very worried. I think the idea is to sort of ‘separate Harry from his perch,’ and disorient him. But it was very much a big part of a discussion, and it’s by design. So, yes, the fans should kind of look at it, observe it and be concerned and then, ultimately, kind of figure that, as with all things we do, we paint Harry into a corner and then give him a brush to paint his way out.

It was definitely a clever move to take Harry Bosch out of his comfort zone inBosch: Legacy, to see how he would react without being able to retreat to his home. It also worked to disorientate the audience, as they’d become accustomed to seeing Bosch in his legendary home for seven seasons in the originalBoschseries. It was a good way of illustrating thatBosch: Legacyis its own show, and the character will have new obstacles to overcome. However, when the house returned in the second season, it was like being re-united with an old friend, and that familiarity played a key part in the success of the sophomore run.
