Konohamaru is an exciting part of theNarutofranchise. Fans have known him since the very early days of the story, since he was a little boy. He has grown up in front of the fans' eyes over the years, and right now, he is a proud Jonin of the Hidden Leaf Village. Konohamaru is the current leader of Team 7, and fans know him to be incredibly powerful, although, it can be said that in many ways, Konohamaru has failed to live up to the reputation that he had set for himself.
Beingthe grandchild of the Third Hokage and an apprentice of the 7th Hokage, fans expected great things from him. Unfortunately, so far in theBorutoseries, he has been lackluster, and much of that is down to the fact that the author has not given him the chance to shine. However, now is the time for Konohamaru Sarutobi to take a major step forward and get much stronger, proving to all the fans that he is a worthy contender for being the next Hokage of the village. A massive battle has been set up for him, and this is where things finally start getting interesting for this character.
Konohamaru’s Disappointing Performance In Naruto Next Generations
Fans expected great things from Konohamaru Sarutobi right from the get-go in theBoruto: Naruto Next Generationseries. It was revealed to fans that Konohamaru will be the leader of Team 7 right from the get-go. This meant that he was essentially taking the same role as Kakashi for the new generation of ninjas, and as fans know, Kakashi was largely impressive throughout the run of theNarutoseries. Unfortunately, Konohamaru did not get the same treatment as Kakashi from the author. Whereas Kakashi was seen as capable and strong enough to face off against multiple powerful threats, Konohamaru was often seen out of his depth. Naturally, fans did not expect himto stand his own ground against the Otsutsuki-level enemies, given that these were strong enough to give even Naruto a run for his money. But, against weaker enemies, such as the outers of Kara, he largely disappointed. Even against someone as weak as Ao, he could not make a solid impression, which disappointed the fans largely.

From there onwards, he was cut out of the manga entirely and did not take part in any major mission. This, to the fans, was a big disappointment and they expected him to never get any proper time in the Boruto manga. Thankfully, things have changed for the better in the Two Blue Vortex series. As fans know, the Two Blue Vortex series has changed the approach towards various things in the plot. This also includes how the series deals with side characters. Whereas the Naruto Next Generation series focused entirely on Boruto and Kawaki, and neglected the side characters, the Two Blue Vortex series has taken a completely different approach and has decided to work on the shortcomings of the predecessor manga. As a result, fans have renewed hope that characters such as Konohamaru Sarutobi, among others, will get their chance to shine.
A Big Battle For Konohamaru Is Set Up
Konohamaru Will Fight Matsuri Soon
So far, in theBoruto: Two Blue Vortexseries, fans have not seen Konohamaru play a massive role in any fight. Of course, he was involved in a small skirmish within Konoha, where he fought against the Claw Grime, but other than that, he did not do much. Even in this clash, he did not reveal any techniques, but it was not a major battle, which is why not many fans expected him to show off any flashy moves here anyway. Now, however, he has a big chance to impress all the readers as he has been assigned to a major mission in the Hidden Sand Village. The best part about this mission is that there are no Boruto and Kawaki to take all the spotlight, as they have time and again in theBorutoseries.
It is because of these two individuals, or, more specifically, the author’s bias toward these two individuals, that has caused all the other characters to stagnate so far. But, given that they are not involved in this fight, and, hopefully, will not be involved at any point later on in the fight, fans can expect great things from the characters involved.
Look, there they are! The Shinju have shown up. – Konohamaru
As things stand, there is a major problem in the Hidden Sand Village.The Fifth Kazekage, Gaara, has been sealed by his own adoptive son, Shinki, to save his life. Meanwhile, Shinki has been turned into a tree by the Claw Grimes, and humanoid Shinju, called Ryu, has been born using his chakra. Now, Ryu and Matsuri are headed to the Hidden Sand Village in an attempt to obliterate and consume Gaara, the 5th Kazekage.
Naturally, the Hidden Sand Village requested help from Konoha and because of that, Shikamaru, the 8th Hokage, dispatched a team of Konohamaru, Mitsuki, and Sarada. Towards the end ofBoruto: Two Blue Vortexchapter 16, these ninjas joined up with the sand shinobi, and together, they will take on the threat of the Shinju, which means a battle for Konohamaru is now on the cards.

Konohamaru Is Set To Fight Matsuri
As fans know, Matsuri has been created using the chakra of Moegi. Moegi is one of Konohamaru’s best friends, and at the same time,fans also know that Matsuri’s target itself is Konohamaru. Given that he is right in front of her, a battle between these two characters is inevitable. This is going to be a battle of high stakes and high emotional value. Above all, this is Konohamaru’s chance to shine in battle. He is going to take on Matsuri to the best of his abilities and he might even beat her by himself, leaving the other four ninjas to deal with Ryu. Over the 3 years, Konohamaru has likely strengthened himself further.
Fans do not know what abilities he holds up his sleeve, but, given that he is the grandson of the Third Hokage, fans can expect a similar fighting style. It is possible that he is a user of all five elements, and a master of many powerful techniques. Fire Style should be his strongest, and he is expected to utilize many of such abilities. It is also possible that he has worked greatly upon the Rasengan and developed further versions of this technique that can deal deadly damage to his enemies. Fans are expecting to see these techniques from him soon enough.
Most importantly, fans can potentially see him tap intothe power of Sage Mode, given that he has Toad Summons. In the 3 years, he could easily have learned the Sage Mode that Naruto often utilizes in combat. That, when combined with his immense genius, should see him hold his own ground against Matsuri. It is also possible that his version of the Sage Mode is somewhat special and allows him to access an even higher form of power. It must be remembered that Matsuri is a threat that cannot be taken down easily and is incredibly strong when compared to an average ninja.
In fact, it shouldn’t be a stretch to compare her to an Otsutsuki. As such, to beat her, he will have to access a higher form of power, which means an improved Sage Mode could be seen here, which is sure to set this battle alight. Fans cannot wait to see Konohamaru get the shine that he deserves in the Boruto series and show everyone whyhe’s worthy of the title of Hokagein the future.
