Summary
Not every character inBleachis as gung-ho and outgoing as Ichigo. In truth, the orange-haired protagonist has run into a fair number of allies and enemies whocould be considered introvertsalong his journey who simply want to be left alone to go about their own business in peace.
That doesn’t necessarily mean these characters are weak though, in fact, it actually tends to be the exact opposite in a lot of cases. These individuals may not be the most sociable, but they can still be relied on when the situation calls for it. Here are the most introverted characters seen throughout theBleachseries.
7Coyote Starrk
Starrk’s Overwhelming Power Forced Him Into Permanent Isolation
Being the strongest member ofthe Espadacomes at a hefty price; something Coyote Stark knows all too well. Due to his immense strength, any other hollows Stark encountered in his past were immediately obliterated, resulting in him being completely alone, and distancing himself from anyone who came close.
The only one who has ever been able to fully get through to Stark, and who could even be called his friend, is his ‘second half’, Lilynette. Aside from her though, Stark tends to keep to himself, spending his time either sleeping, or obliterating anyone who dares get near with his Cero blasters.
6Ururu Tsumugiya
Ururu Is The Shy And Timid Assistant At Urahara’s Shop
Fans might remember Ururu as the young girl who supports Kisuke in his candy shop back in the world of the living. Though she’s always up for helping Mr. Hat and Clogs when he needs assistance, Ururu is often presented as a very shy, timid, and ultimately isolated character who prefers enjoying her own company rather than spending too much time with others.
This is in direct contrast to her closest friend who also works in the shop, Jinta, who is largely defined by his erratic personality and loud voice. She may not appear on-screen all that much, but Ururu is still happy to help outIchigo and the othersif she needs to.
5Yukio Hans Vorarlberna
Yukio Would Rather Ignore The World To Focus On His Gaming
Compared tothe other Fullbringers, Yukio is by far the most closed-off and introverted of the bunch. For the majority of his screentime, Yukio is shown playing an eerily familiar handheld console, which also relates to his Fullbring power, but he will only rarely take his attention away from the game if the other members of the group command him to do so.
A lot of the time, Riruka will be the one who’s forced to bring Yukio out of his shell, acting like a sort of older sister to the young boy. Yukio may not do much talking, but getting on the wrong side of him is still far from a good idea considering the amount of damage he can cause just through his game console alone.
4Gremmy Thoumeaux
A Sick And Twisted Sternritter Who Places Himself At The Top Of The Food Chain
Gremmy believes he is, without question, thestrongest of the Sternritter. In fact, he claims during his bout with Kenpachi that this is “obvious”, and as so, he possesses an insatiable ego underneath his cold exterior that causes him to distance himself from each of his allies.
Instead, if Gremmy needs company, he simply conjures up beings out of his imagination, making “Fiction a reality”, as he calls it. His complete disregard for others is put on full display when he calls down the meteor against Kenpachi, fully willing to eliminate each one of his allies until only he remains standing.
3Ulquiorra Cifer
Ulquiorra’s Lack Of Emotion Causes Him To Distance Himself From Others
Ulquiorra’s character is designed to be completely void of emotion. As a result, he often sees no point in relying on others, preferring to use his own immensely strong abilities to get the job done. Ulquiorra tends to avoid socializing with the other Espada, while only briefly speaking to Orihime after he kidnaps her.
He essentially has a very nihilistic view of the world, and therefore decides to lock himself away from it, unless his master, Aizen, calls him out for a mission. He’s certainly not a people person, though if Ulquiorra had survived his deadly ordeal with Ichigo, fans maybe could have seen another side to him.
2Byakuya Kuchiki
Byakuya’s Stoic Nature Makes Him More Of An Introvert Compared To His Companions
There are many episodes, especially in earlyBleach, where fans will be treated to a few scenes of the Soul Reapers hanging out together in their natural habitat. It’s made clear that the majority of Captains and Lieutenants loved getting together and singing karaoke or having a few drinks at the local bar, but Byakuya is often shown to instead be studying in his office, or having a calming walk in the park.
This does make sense considering the captain’sserious and stoic naturewhich forces him to always be focused on the mission at hand, and it means he can often be found alone, whether it be for training, or just to research the latest enemy on the block. This was especially the case in the Soul Society arc where his cold-hearted personality resulted in him looking down on, and ultimately avoiding, his Soul Reaper companions.
1As Nodt
Fear Drove As Nodt Into Isolation, And Now, He Wants Others To Experience What It’s Like
Many of the Sternritter like to make their presence known once they arrive in the Soul Society, and certainly aren’t shy about unleashing their powers to decimate those who stand in their way. As Nodt, the master of fear manipulation, is a little different though, as he instead lurks around the area quietly, showing up randomly to catch his victim by surprise using hiseerie abilities.
For the most part though, As Nodt generally avoids interacting with anyone he doesn’t recognize as someone he can manipulate and kill, resulting in a pretty bloodthirsty villain. This sense of isolation may have come as a result of As Nodt’s tragic past where fear itself had driven him down a dark road of despair, only being pulled back to the surface by Yhwach.
