Furthermore, considering thatDragon Age: The Veilguard’s predecessor,Dragon Age: Inquisition,won Game of the Yearin 2014, it was shocking to some that the most recent title didn’t receive nominations in any category. Though it has a Metascore of 82, based on 71 critic reviews, this still puts it one point aboveBlack Myth: Wukong.
Interestingly, the highest-rated nominee for Game of the Year wasSuper Mario Odysseyin 2017.
