Summary
Monster-taming RPGTemtemhas developed a fond following since its 2020 early access release on Steam. More recent releases on consoles and continuous content updates culminating in last November’s 1.8 patch have meant that the game has maintained a steady flow of players over time.
With plenty of new players still discovering thisambitious Pokemon alternative, and more than 160 Tems to tame in the game, many new players will find themselves asking, “What’s the best team to beat the story’s most challenging fights?” The game’s Dojo battles can be tough, and there’s no one-size-fits-all team that can breeze through them.
Each battle also has its quirks, which means some team comps will work better than others for each one. With that in mind, this topic will determine the best team for each Dojo battle, as well as the last boss.
Electric & Nature Types Help With Sophia
Recommended Tems (Evolution)
Arissola’s Dojo leaderSophia uses mostly water and wind-type Tems, so players will want to pack some electric and nature damage to hit their weaknesses. Having some toxic coverage can also be a big help. Ganki and Scarawatt are good choices for electric tems. If players can find a Saipat with the toxic affinity, then this will make the fight a little easier.
Kaku and Swali will hit the nature weaknesses here, and they both resist Sophia’s water-type attacks. Having a Paharo leveled and potentially evolved can help as a high-stat damage soak, as players won’t have too many alternatives to catch at this stage. However, players who chose Crystle as a starter can use this instead to counter Sophia’s one electric-type, Sparzy.
Use Water & Toxic Types To Take On Rawiri
Rawiri mostly uses fire and nature-type Tems, so water and toxic-types are the easy choices for this fight. However, players will also need to consider his one neutral-type Tem, Tateru. Hocus is a good pick to counter this with its mental-type damage and can be caught back in Deniz.
A Saipat, Platypet, and Kalabyss can hit the fire tems with water-type damage, and Kalabyss has the bonus that it can use toxic techniques against the nature-types, too. Players can keep using Saku as it will resist nature and can learn toxic techniques, but its fire weakness could be a problem. To mitigate this, players can equip it with the ice cube for 20% fire resistance, available in a chestearlier in the Dojo.
Mixing Types To Beat Tihani
Tihani mixes types more than the previous Dojo leaders, but half their squad has a weakness to electric-type damage. That means that players' Ganki, or its evolved form Gazuma, should come back into the rotation. A Nessla can be a good electric-type backup, especially with the electric synthesize passive trait.
Vulcrane and Raiber can cover the fire-type damage that’s needed, and Saku’s toxic damage can still help here. If this fight proves tough, players should ensure that their Tems are leveled up to at least level 35, asTihani’s squadwill be between levels 33-38.
Use Melee, Wind & Fire To Hit Yareni’s Weaknesses
Yareni’s teamis another mix of types, but with three crystal-types, a melee-heavy hitter is a good choice. That’s why Skunch is included here, and Saipat can help with melee techniques, too. Gazuma and Volarend will help with hitting wind weaknesses.
Raiber can hit the fire weakness of Myx, who can be difficult to take out. Tuwai rounds out the team for wind damage, but there are other options here. Players may want to take a nature-type as Mudrid and Shuine are weak to its damage, but they’ll need to be careful of Yareni’s toxic-type attacks.
Water, Mental & Melee Types Work Best For Musa
Using Platypet and Kalazu (ideally evolved to Kalabyss at this point) can cover the water weaknesses ofDojo leader Musa’s team. Players will also need mental-types, so using Barnshe and Hocus, the two most easily available options, can really help with Skunch and Yowlar, who can be difficult to take down otherwise.
Even though Musa uses some melee-types himself, there are three Tems with melee weaknesses on his team. That means that players who bring their own Skunch, Smazee, or other melee Tems should pick them to round out their team.
Earth, Nature & Mental Types Can Counter Dr. Sasaya
Packing nature and mental types like Kinu, Hocus, Loali, and Aohi, can hit the majority ofDr. Sasaya’s weaknesses. This composition makes use of dual-type Tems to hit multiple damage types. This also gives players the option to bring a couple of electric types to soak up damage from Nessla and Ob10.
Avoid using water-types, as all damage will be reduced by 20% thanks to Ob10’s Umbrella. Players will want to level all their main Tems above level 60 for this fight, as Dr. Sasaya’s team will range from level 58-64.
Bring Mental, Digital & Earth Types To Deal With Murdag
Murdag can be a tough Dojo leader to beat, as they pack Tems with attack buffs that can dish out a lot of damage. With this in mind, players should bring out their Grumper to counter Golzy and its special technique boost. The next most dangerous Tem on Murdag’s team is Skunch, so focusing damage on their mental weakness should be the player’s next priority.
Players will also want to be able to hit earth-type weaknesses, which is why Vulfy and Seismunch can be good choices here. Kinu brings mental-type damage and support, and Nagaise can hit with both mental and water-type damage, giving players the best coverage for Murdag’s team.
Packing Electric & Melee Types Helps With Percival
Percival is thelast Dojo leader in the game, and as such, it’s a tough fight. The Doublescreen item that Percival uses reduces damage from dual-type Tems, so picking strong single types is a good strategy for the fight.
Players will want to be able to hit with electric, earth, water, and mental damage types. Melee can help with the one crystal type, Innki. The team above mostly uses single-type Tems, with a couple of dual types to hit specific weaknesses. Focus on taking down Vental as quickly as possible to negate the Doublescreen effect.
Beat General X By Countering Swaps
The composition of a player’s team isn’t as important for the final battle as understanding the structure of the fight. The fight ends in a loss after 15 turns have passed, so players need to be able to take down General X’s team quickly. To make that more complicated, he will attempt to frustrate the player with swaps and delaying tactics, so it’s vital to counter those.
Packing items like the handcuffs or cage can help lock down the switches. Another way to counter this is to use strong neutral-type Tems like Mouflank and Yowlar to negate the type advantage of switching. Once players know his lineup, they can also try to predict his switches to line up effective moves. The above team uses a combination of neutral types, electric and wind attacks, and some useful support abilities.
