With the latest integration withBlack Ops 6, however, the gameplay is far different from its original counterpart, featuring fluid movement,an additional Resurgence map, and another Battle Royale map known as Avalon, set to debut in 2025. Speaking of Resurgence, players diving into the mode may be surprised to know that several maps have featured in the popular mode.
WarzoneResurgence has showcased atotal of five maps throughout its lifecycle, each offering its own unique setting and gameplay elements. These smaller and more confined locations serve asthe battleground for fast-paced Resurgence gameplay, where players are granted the chance to drop back into the A.O. during the Resurgence window, provided their teammates remain alive. While each map is undoubtedly unique, here is a list ofevery Resurgence map, ranked.
5Vondel
Large Metropolis With Diverse POIs
Vondelwas the second Resurgence mapto joinWarzone 2.0, entering the rotation alongside Ashika Island. Like Ashika Island, Vondel isone of the largest Resurgencemaps to date, boasting a total of 15 main POIs.Visually, Vondel looks rather neat, featuring a diverse range of locations that differ in style. Some standout areas include the Museum and Market, each offering unique set pieces that make them memorable. The map also includescanals running through most major locations, which players can use to evade gunfire or sneak up on unsuspecting enemies.
The main draw of Vondel is its verticality, featuring numerous high pointsthat serve as key power positions. This often leads players to default to rooftops, sniping at others from a distance. However, the tight alleys between buildings also create opportunities for close-quarters combat, providing plenty of cover for tactical engagements. Of course, with the sheer number of buildings on Vondel, players who stay on the ground are often at a disadvantage, making the fight for prime rooftop spots both chaotic and competitive.
4Ashika Island
Asia Pacific Remote Island With Great Set Pieces
Ashika Islandis one of two Resurgence mapsto debut inModern Warfare 2’srendition ofWarzone, arriving with the Season 2 update. While bordering onone of the larger maps for Resurgence, Ashika Island is, for the most part, quite open, which initially turned some players away when it first dropped. The mapfeatures seven main POIs, ranging from the small Town Center to Port Ashika, with its main attraction being Tsuki Castle, located at the very center of the map. Additionally, the map includes asubterranean waterway that harbors a secret bunker— a unique feature that sets it apart from other Resurgence maps.
Of all the Resurgence maps introduced inWarzone, Ashika Island is arguablyone of the most visually appealing, showcasing an Eastern aesthetic with stunning set pieces. Tsuki Castle itself is a standout location, complete with cherry blossom trees and the grand main castle. In terms of gameplay, Ashika Island is undoubtedlyone of the more chaotic maps, especially in the areas between major POIs that lack usable cover. Numerous vantage points are also pretty difficult to approach, such as the apartment complex opposite Ōganikku Farms, the main stronghold at Tsuki Castle, and the hotel near the Beach Club — which was sure to be the reason for many players heading back to the lobby during its rotation with Vondel.
3Area 99
Nevada Desert Map With Great Locations
Next up isArea 99, the latest Resurgence map to debut forBlack Ops 6andWarzoneSeason 1. Area 99 is definitely one of the better-looking maps on this list, placing players in the vast Nevada desert amidst a nuclear testing site. Much like Rebirth Island,Area 99 falls on the smaller sidewhen it comes to Resurgence maps, featuring 10 unique POIs, each mostly blending in with one another to serve as different components of the site. Some of the standout locations include the Reactor, Pods, and Mannequin Assembly.
In terms of gameplay, Area 99 is nothing short of chaotic, with the large Reactor at its center providing excellent sniping vantage points, along with other elevated portions of the map that players can use for quick traversal. There is also a unique mix ofopen areas for longer-range battlesand confined buildings for tactical close-range encounters. Throw in redacted weapons, the Specialist Perk, and other returning mechanics, paired withBlack Ops 6’somnimovement system, and players have a solid map that offers hours of exciting gameplay.
2Rebirth Island
Classic Resurgence Map On Alcatraz
Rebirth Islandwas the very first Resurgence map introduced inWarzone, debuting with the game’s initial iteration. It is arguably the most recognizable map in the Resurgence lineup, as it was modeled after the Alcatraz map from Blackout, which, as many players know, is based on the real-life location. Alcatraz also served as the setting for one ofCall of Duty’smost iconic Zombies maps: Mob of the Dead, making it one of the more nostalgic locations for players to dive into. Rebirth Island is definitely on the smaller side compared to other Resurgence maps,featuring11 main POIswhich each feature their own unique characteristics.
In terms of gameplay, Rebirth Island delivers afun and engaging experience, offering a mix of open areas, high vantage points for sniping, and tightly packed buildings perfect for close-quarters combat. The standout feature is, of course, the central Prison POI. While the location itself often draws a lot of players to itsrooftop for intense battles, its claustrophobic interiors also createchaotic, fast-paced engagements. As far as Resurgence maps go, Rebirth Island remains a fan favorite, becoming even more appreciated with time.
1Fortune’s Keep
A Classic Map Reimagined
Taking the number one spot isFortune’s Keep, the Resurgence map that debuted duringWarzone Calderabefore later reappearing duringModern Warfare 3Season 2. Fortune’s Keep takes players to a remote island andfalls on the smaller sidecompared to some other entries. While receiving some small geographical changes during its debut in the second iteration ofWarzone, the map remains largely the same, featuring 11 unique POIs, each serving as prominent hot zones for battle.
The main attraction of Fortune’s Keep is, of course, the Keep on the north side of the map, providingelevated areas for players looking to snipetheir opponents from long range. The map alsofeatures subterranean areas throughout, much like Ashika Island, offering places for players to take shelter between gunfights or engage in tactical close-quarters combat.
