Summary
Jayce has recently soared in popularity as one of the most recognizable characters fromLeague of Legends, thanks in large part tothe Netflix seriesArcane, where he portrayed a major role in both seasons. However, the Piltovan inventor hasalways been a solid top lanerfor many years in-game, and a very popular pick in the competitive scene.
Jayce also has some well-designed and unique skins as he appears in various skin universes. Over the years, a total of twelve skins have been released for Jayce, including his default skin. It’s time to find out where each one of Jayce’s skins ranks from worst to best.
12Original Jayce
The Defender Of Tomorrow
Jayce’s default skin is largely unremarkable. While it did get a nice visual update in 2021 whenthe first season ofArcanewas released, it didn’t elevate this skin to new heights. There isn’t much to comment about this skin, as it simply gets outclassed by all of his other ones that have special effects. However, it is one of the smoother default skins in the game.
11Full Metal Jayce
Epic Skin
Full Metal Jayce is, frankly, an awful skin for its price tag. Carrying the price of an epic skin, this cosmetic changes absolutely nothing when it comes to his abilities' visual and sound effects. The only changes are to his attire and a more robotic voice.
If this skin was priced at 750 RP, which is what it should rightfully be, it could have moved up a few more spots on this list. As it stands, this skin is an absolute waste of RP for players looking to get Jayce skins.
10Jayce Brighthammer
Deluxe Skin
Jayce Brighthammer suffers from the same problem as Full Metal. The only caveat is its significantly reduced price of 750 RP, which is reasonable for what this skin offers. It gives Jayce a cool-looking halo that changes color depending on his stance.
Jayce’s hammer also changes in his melee and ranged stance, featuring sharper edges and vibrant colors. Ultimately, the lack of new visual and sound effects makes it a largely unappealing skin.
9Debonair Jayce
Standard Skin
Debonair Jayce is essentially an enhanced and smoother version of his base skin. It allows players to sport a gentleman look onto the rift before proceeding to one-shot the enemy ADC. This skin also features slight changes to the visual effects of his abilities.
For 975 RP, Debonair is a fairly priced skin as it is one of Jayce’s smoothest. The subtle changes to his abilities are also a nice touch, but it lacks a defining factor to be rated any higher than ninth on this list.
8Arcane Jayce
Arcane Jayce is essentially the modernized version of Debonair. The effects on his abilities are quite similar, but there is a clear difference in the crispness and quality of the skins, with Arcane being made almost nine years later than Debonair.
Much like Debonair, however, Arcane Jayce doesn’t have the “it” factor like the upcoming skins on this list. The lack of standout VFX makes this an average skin at best.
7Zenith Games Jayce
Zenith Games Jayce is easily his worst skin that features drastically different VFX. This skin universe simply does not suit Jayce, and it feels like a poor man’s version of Battle Academia Jayce.
The sound effects lack the powerful feeling that is associated with Jayce, with most of the sound effects feeling cartoonish to an extent. However, it does have a lot of changes from his base skin that the other entries before it lacked, which is why Zenith Games Jayce ranks this high.
6T1 Jayce
T1 Jayce is a special skin that falls under the esports line of skin collections. This skin was made in honor of top laner Choi “Zeus” Woo-je, who won theLeague of LegendsWorlds 2023 Championshipwith T1.
The red and pink vibe fits Jayce surprisingly well, thanks to the smooth effects of his abilities. The golden and white character model is excellently designed and gives the feeling of royalty, which is befitting of a world champion.
5Prestige T1 Jayce
Prestige Skin
T1 Jayce also has a Prestige variant since Zeus managed to bag the MVP in the 2023 Worlds finals. This edition of his skin makes all of his abilities have a golden and purple effect instead of red and pink.
The golden and purple vibe fits Jayce a lot more compared to the standard version of the skin. It truly makes the user of this skin feel prestigious and does just enough to differentiate itself from the base skin.
4Forsaken Jayce
Forsaken Jayce is the heaviest and hardest-hitting skin for the Piltovan. The black and red combo, paired with the deep voice and ominous sound effects, make this skin feel sinister and powerful at the same time.
The big downside to this skin is that it can feel a bit too heavy and clunky at times. It lacks the smoothness that many of Jayce’s best skins have. However, the booming SFX and overall feel of the skin warrant it a pretty high spot.
3Battle Academia Jayce
Battle Academia Jayce is the benchmark to differentiate the good Jayce skins from the very best. At the time of its release, it was the unanimous best skin for the Defender of Tomorrow. Over the years, it still holds its position as a comfort skin for any Jayce main.
The animations, character model, and ability effects are top-notch while also having some worthwhile chromas to obtain. The selling factor of this skin is its incredibly smooth and lightweight feel.
