The weapon system is fairly simplistic inMario & Luigi: Brothership. Mario and Luigi can stomp on enemies via their jump attacks, aided by their equipped boots, and then they can get hammers. There are no othertraditional RPG weaponslike swords, lances, or axes which makes sense since this is supposed to be family-friendly.
The variety isn’t there in terms of types of weapons inMario & Luigi: Brothership, but players are still going to find a lot of different styles of boots and hammers throughout their playthrough. These examples are some of the best players can find toward the latter half.
8Gobblick Boots DX
Jump Attack 123/Stache 5
The Gobblick Boots DX is an upgraded version of a pair of boots players can acquire earlier in the game. In the latter section of the game, an NPC on Shipshape Island will challenge players to facebosses they fought previously inMario & Luigi: Brothership. Glohm Gobblick is an upgraded version of Gobblick, in other words, one of the Great Lighthouse Island guardians. The Gobblick Boots DX has decent power stats with the bonus of Stache points and the ability to heal HP based on the amount of damage inflicted on an enemy.
7Adaphnikki Boots
Jump Attack 135
The Adaphnikki Boots can be acquired by completing the Dueling Geniuses side quest inMario & Luigi: Brothership. Adaphne and Technikki are two inventors in the game who used to be friends. Through this side quest, players can help patch up their friendship and get a decent reward. The Adaphnikki Boots will boost Jump attacks by 30% when in a combo. The only way to elongate a combo is through aPlug inMario & Luigi: Brothershipcalled Attack Boost which can give Mario or Luigi an extra boot or hammer attack during their turn.
6Accel Boots DX
Jump Attack 138/Speed 4
The Accel Boots DX cannot be acquired through normal means. Later in the game, players will face Glohm Snaptors like on Skorcheen Island. There is a chance these monsters will drop the boots when they are defeated in battle.
There are a few ways to boost item drops in battle from theTreasure Specs accessory inMario & Luigi: Brothershipto the Loot Booster Plug. The Accel Boots DX are great to have as they can temporarily boost Speed when players defeat an enemy.
5Forge Boots DX
Jump Attack 142
The Forge Boots DX are located on Jellyfish Island like the Adaphnikki Boots. They are tied to amini-game that would feel right at home in aMario Partygathering. Players need to make Jellyfish Pizzas for Adaphne and if they get a good score then they will be rewarded with the weapon. The Forge Boots DX will boost damage when the equipped hero drops to a certain HP level. It’s kind of like giving the character a last-ditch effort if they cannot heal in the moment.
4Bros. Hammer DX
Hammer Attack 96
The Bros. Hammer DX can be found a few ways but the first will be on Heatfreeze Island through a treasure chest. It’s not the strongest hammer weapon players can find but it does boost BP temporarily in battle. BP is what players will use to performBros. Attacks inMario & Luigi: Brothershiplike Clockout Blow and Conductor Connector. They can be hard to pull off but they are worth the effort as Bros. Attacks are powerful magical skills. The more BP players have, the less time they have to waste drinking various syrups to restore BP in battle.
3Sharpcask Hammer DX
Hammer Attack 123/Defense 6
The Sharpcask Hammer DX can be acquired the same way players get the Gobblick Boots DX. They just need to fight a Glohm version of a previous boss, Sharpcask, and then the NPC on Shipshape Island will reward players with the weapon.
Sharpcask can be found on another Great Lighthouse Island and it’s still pretty hard as far as bosses go in the game. The Sharpcask Hammer DX boosts Defense when equipped and it can boost Defense during battle too every time players destroy an enemy.
2Whittledown Hammer DX
Hammer Attack 142
The Whittledown Hammer DX can be found in the final dungeon of the game, the Soli-Tree. It’s located in a treasure chest and it’s one of several pieces of loot in the game with this bonus effect. The fewer amount of enemies in battle, the stronger this weapon will be. There are pieces of armor with this effect as well and a reverse effect too like boost power with a high amount of enemies around. The downside for the Whittledown Hammer DX specifically is that battles with a large number of enemies will lower damage so it is best saved forboss battles only.
1Gamble Hammer DX
Hammer Attack 142/Stache 5
The Gamble Hammer DX is a risk to equip as well but not as much as the Whittledown Hammer DX. The normal stats are great, making it a powerful hammer for either brother to equip. The bonus effect is nice too as it can boost a random stat from more attack power to Defense. There are no downsides to equipping it but players just need to be okay with the randomness of the boosts. It can be found in a treasure chest within the Soli-Tree.
