8Eviscerate and Heroic Strike

Lucanis and Davrin

Lucanis and Davrin have their differences, but together, they work incredibly well as a heavy attack duo. They work best as a mage Rook, as both tend to get up close and personal with their combat.

The Eviscerate and Heroic Strike combo allows Davrin to apply the Overwhelmed status effect, which will increase the Stagger damage on the enemy. Enemies that are Staggered can’t move or attack, so when Lucanis uses Eviscerate with Davrin’s Heroic Strike to detonate the Overwhelmed status, players can do damage and render their target immobile.

7Final Rites and Shred

Emmrich and Harding

Emmrich’s necrotic damage skills combined with Harding’s ranged attacks come together excellently, and their combined abilities make their team up all the more powerful.

Harding’s Shred is another ability that deals high Stagger, but it also applies the Sundered status, which makes enemies more vulnerable to all types of damage. When Emmrich uses Final Rites, it detonates Harding’s Shred. Not only does this combo unleash intense damage, but it also significantly weakens the enemy, rendering them vulnerable to every kind of skill thanks to that Sundered status.

6Death From Above and Enfeebling Shot

Davrin and Bellara

Elven duo Bellara and Davrinare a great pair to put together, especially when Davrin has Death From Above equipped and Bellara has Enfeebling Shot. Together, these skills act as a primer and detonator, leading to a big bang when they are used.

When using Death From Above, Davrin calls baby griffon Assan down to attack enemies. When Assan does so, the move deals Stagger and detonates if an enemy has the Weakened status. That’s where Bellara comes in, as her Enfeebling Shot applies the Weakened status. Players should use Bellara’s Enfeebling Shot first and then get Davrin to call Assan to perform Death From Above, and the enemy won’t know what hit them.

5Debilitate and Icebreaker

Lucanis and Neve

The chemistry between Antivan crow Lucanis and Minrathous detective Neveextends into their combat abilities, as the two have a particularly powerful combo move. Much like Davrin and Bellara’s combo, Neve and Lucanis can apply and then detonate the Sundered status when using their skills.

Lucanis first needs to use his Debilitate skill, which deals necrotic damage and applies the Sundered status. Neve then cools things down with her Icebreaker ability, which applies cold damage and detonates Sundered.

4Enfeebling Shot and Dragonfire Strike

Bellara and Taash

Taash and Bellara are one of thebest companion duos inDragon Age: The Veilguard, as they complement each other fantastically and can do great amounts of damage together. They also have a combo attack move that can be triggered by using Bellara’s Enfeebling Shot and Taash’s Dragonfire Strike. As with Bellara’s combo with Davrin, Taash and Bellara’s combination ability focuses on applying the Weakened status to enemies with Bellara’s Enfeebling Shot. Taash can then detonate it with her Dragonfire Strike.

This can become a particularly potent combo when Taash and her Dragonfire Strike are upgraded, as the ability applies the Burning status when it is used. If upgraded, the Burning status becomes even more fiery and burns with more power. Not only can this combo cause a ton of damage, but it can also set the enemies alight and keep them burning for a while after being hit.

3Debilitate and Final Rites

Lucanis and Emmrich

Lucanis and Emmrich are a necrotic powerhouse duo. These companions are great when paired up in general, but they can also apply the Sundered status and detonate it when combining their Debilitate and Final Rites abilities.

For those looking to create a necrotic damage build, Emmrich and Lucanis are a great choice. However, this combination of abilities adds some extra damage to their already powerful skill set. The damage fromthe primer and detonator comboof Lucanis’s Debilitate and Emmrich’s Final Rites makes pairing the two together well worth it. As well as that, the staying power of their necrotic nature makes them all the more appealing.

2Icebreaker and Shred

Neve and Harding

Harding’s ranged abilities combined with Neve’s ice magic can make for some awesome combos. When combining Neve’s Icebreaker skill and Harding’s Shred, the pair can apply the Sundered status to enemies and then detonate it to cause damage. Players should use Icebreaker as Neve first, as this is the primer ability. Set this off with Harding’s Shred, and the detonation will inflict some nasty wounds on the bad guys.

As well as the primer and detonator combo, Harding and Neve’s abilities also complement each other and work especially well when paired with a warrior Rook. Their ranged abilities and their healing can keep a warrior Rook going during the toughest fights, while that killer combo of Shred and Icebreaker makes them all the more helpful in combat.

1Dragonfire Strike and Entangling Spirits

Taash and Emmrich

Last but not least is the odd couple, Taash and Emmrich, who can sap the strength of enemies with their combo skills. Emmrich can apply the Weakened status to enemies with his Entangling Spirits skill, which also inflicts necrotic damage. Once the enemy is Weakened, Taash can then come in with her Dragonfire Strike to detonate the Weakened enemies, leading to some fiery damage.

Despite the two not getting on as well as some of the other companions inThe Veilguard, Taash and Emmrich are one of the best companion duos for players to have with them due to how well their abilities work together. Their combination of necrotic and fire damage can lead to significant damage, while their Dragonfire Strike and Entangling Spirits combo can take out enemies and clear the battlefield in moments.
