AYANEO 3is going to be the company’s next flagship handheld gaming device, and it will be powered by theAMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370processor. As of now, very little is known about the upcoming handheld, though the company has started to tease some of the features and specifications before its official launch. What the company did share is images of the device, and it looks like a compact and ergonomic package that sitssomewhere between the Steam Deck and the Nintendo Switch.
AYANEO 3, What We Know So Far
Ayaneo is no stranger togaming handhelds. In fact, it has the largest assortment of devices and is the most regular when it comes to new launches. Using all that experience, it has developed the AYANEO 3, which the company calls a “revolutionary approach to the future of handheld gaming.” For now, the company has shared some images and specifications to get people excited about the new flagship handheld.
Design and Aesthetics
As a successor to the AYANEO 2 and 2S, the AYANEO 3 carries the same design language with a sleek and compact body. The position of the buttons has been changed, but the ergonomic grips are present, this time with additional buttons. There is a black and a white version of the AYANEO 3, and both of them have an LED ring surrounding the joysticks. The speakers are front facing, and the sound output has been improved as well. At the top, there seem to be two additional buttons that flank the USB Type-C port and exhaust vent. It is unclear if there is a second USB Type-C port at the bottom.
The AYANEO 2 came with three USB Type-C ports, two of which support USB 4.0 with 4K 60Hz video output.
Specifications and Features
This is where things get a little more interesting. The AYANEO 3 will be available in two models, possibly more, depending on the processor and the display. There is anOLED and an LCD option, both of which come in at 7 inches and are supposed to be “high-refresh” displays. The OLED model supports HDR and will have higher brightness than the LCD model.
Ayaneo is also offering two CPU choices for the upcoming handheld:AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370or theRyzen 7 8840U. While the latter has shown its prowess in other handheld gaming devices, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 is fairly new in this form factor. The GPD Pocket 4 was the first handheld computer to feature the new Ryzen AI 9 HX370 chip, but it wasn’t a gaming focussed handheld. Currently, ONEXPLAYER is hosting a pre-sale for its upcomingOneXFly F1 Pro,which will be powered by the same Ryzen AI chip.
The AYANEO 3 will come with two back buttons and trigger lock functionality. It is expected that the joysticks will either useHall effect or TMR technologyfor better accuracy and durability. Ayaneo promised to share more details about the handheld soon.
AYANEO 3: Price and Availability
The company has not shared any information on the price and release date for the AYANEO 3, and it is also unclear how many RAM and storage options will be available. For reference, the AYANEO 2 launched at $1099 for the base model, and went up to $1499 for the top end. A similar price tag can be expected for the AYANEO 3, and it is possible that the LCD and Ryzen 7 8840U models will be cheaper than the OLED and Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 ones.
