Will Arcane S2 Receive a Behind-the-Scenes Documentary?

The first season ofArcanewas accompanied by a behind-the-scenes documentary series onYouTube titledArcane: Bridging the Rift. The series spanned five 30-minute episodes and provided unique insights into the creation ofArcane, including how Fortiche pulled off its complex and unique animation style. Now that season 2 ofArcaneis out in the world, many fans have been hoping the new season would receive a similar ‘making of’ documentary. When asked whether this might be in store, Christian Linke provided a disappointingupdate on Xsaying“I don’t think so. Didn’t have the budget to do another one.”

Linke added that a second behind-the-scenes documentary series was difficult to push for when the first wasn’t a success.“These things are hard to push for. When it’s a success, people go ‘yeah I mean makes total sense to create a BTS.’ When it’s not a success, it’s ‘you spent money on WHAT?! You self-indulgent muppet,”he said in a follow-up comment.Arcane: Bridging the Riftwas released for free on Riot’sLeague of LegendsYouTube channel, and while the company wouldn’t have received any financial returns like it would have with a licensing deal, each episode garnered almost a million views a piece, which speaks to the fan appetite for this type of content.

Netflix Has Released A Short Making of Video for Arcane Season 2

While not an official making of, Netflix did commission aspecial after-show forArcaneSeason 2titledArcane Afterglow. Each short episode featured cast members like Ella Purnell, Hailee Steinfeld, and Reed Shannon answering burningquestions from eachArcaneSeason 2 episodewith creators Linke and Alex Yee also providing insight. Netflix also released a 10-minuteMaking Arcanevideo on YouTube which provides some behind-the-scenes moments of how the newest season came to life and has gained over a million views in under a week. Without an officialBridging the Riftsequel coming out, these behind-the-scenes tidbits may be all that fans can hope for. Riot is working on otherLeague of Legendsanimated series. However, they are still early in development and are likely years away from release.
